Hollywood Garden Mural repainting -This Sunday July 16th!
This Sunday, we will be repainting the street mural on our block of NE Hancock Street between 44th and 45th!  Help us re-beautify this block of the Hollywood neighborhood, and come out on  Sunday, July 16th, between 10 am and 4pm ! Please join the event's  Facebook page here.

Taking its inspiration from the bountiful produce on display at the farmers market, the mural takes the form of a garden, with a path of stepping stones winding its way around fruits, vegetables and vines. This is one of the largest street paintings in Portland, stretching curb-to-curb along 100 feet of Hancock Street. On market day, it serves as a beautiful carpet for the farmers market, and throughout the week it leaves a reminder of the market on the street.

Thanks to Hollywood Neighborhood Assocation!
Big thanks to  Hollywood Neighborhood Association for sponsoring our  Double Up Food Bucks program this Saturday! Their generous sponsorship makes it possible for our low income neighbors to receive a $10 match on their SNAP benefit.

Vendor News
Market will be packed this Saturday with all of our farmers, ranchers, foragers, orchardists and food makers back for the summer season. If you've been waiting for summer at the farmers market, it is here! Cherries galore, stone fruits starting to pile up, and every berry you can think of are taking turns at the market. Stop by Kiyokawa Family Orchards and welcome them back for the season, and if you are lucky you may even get to sample the first organic cherries from them as well.

Once again Moon Coffee will be on site offering specialty espresso drink made with house crafted syrups and nut milks, and Nossa Familia Coffee returns to offer your favorite drip, french press, cold brew and herbal teas.

After a couple weeks away Tabor Bread returns with a
refurbished oven and all your favorite whole and ancient grain bread creations.   Gelato Maestro will be here for the week with delightful seasonal and classic creations of gelato and sorbetto, and so authentic it gives you the feeling you've stepped further into Italy with each spoonful.

See you Saturday at the market!
Recipe of the Week: Fresh Cherry Bread Pudding
1/2 loaf day old baguette, cut into cubes (about 4 cups)
2 Tbsp melted butter, plus extra to butter the pans
1/2 lb fresh cherries, washed, stemmed and pitted
4 eggs
2 cups milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Butter a small baking pan or individual ramekins and fill with the bread cubes. Drizzle with the melted butter. Arrange the pitted cherries on top, poking a few down into the bread cubes. Pour any accumulated cherry juices over the top.

Beat the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla together and pour over the bread. Press the bread down with a fork or spatula to submerge. Allow to stand until the liquid has been mostly absorbed, about 20 minutes.

Slide the bread pudding into the oven and bake for 35 - 45 minutes (depending on the size of the pan) or until the top has puffed up and is golden brown.

Serve either warm or cold, topped with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.
