It's been a long and hot August, which for Hollywood Farmers Market goers means a bounty of everything a Pacific Northwest summer has to offer, and its not over yet.
Sweet Leaf Farm has tomatoes at the peak of season, and specials on bulk basil for using fresh now or for making pesto for freezing into the winter.
Peaches and nectarines reign supreme, pick them up at
Kiyokawa Family Orchards, Maryhill Fruit Company
for just a few more weeks.
If heirloom varieties strike your fancy find your way to Winter Green Farm for a rainbow of oddly shaped and overwhelmingly delicious tomatoes. Gales Meadow Farm for piles of curly Tromboncino squash, and Stoneboat Farm melons of all shapes, sizes and colors to keep your taste buds smiling.
While summer's still very much here, it soon will turn to the cooler wetter place we all know. Before it does get in one (or many) more round(s) of grilling and outside chilling. Try some ground yak from Pine Mountain Ranch and give your hamburger a whole new twist. Frankfurters from Olympia Provisions are perfect for any cookout, and you can never go wrong with a certified organic chicken or beautiful cut of beef from Deck Family Farm.
