Inspiration For Our Adventures
Ideas don’t come out of nowhere. Sometimes they come from obvious things, and sometimes not so much. If you are one of those folks who is always wondering about the creative process, we’ve got some insight that we’ve presented in some recent articles!

In creating one of our recent modules, Enter The Dagon, Harley Stroh went well out of his way to discover the unusual. In this case, that meant taking a trip out to Alcatraz, where the halls and memories hit a creative spark inside him. You can follow the entirety of his creation here.

Brendan LaSalle took his inspiration from a very different source. In his article, he dictates how the music of Black Sabbath fostered the ideas behind two of his modules, A Hole in the Sky and Neon Knights. His experience with Dungeon Crawl Classics happened at the same time where he discovered a passion for Ozzy Osbourne and his roots in Sabbath, and you can read all about it here.

And then there is the journey of Michael Curtis and Brendan LaSalle, who spent a weekend traipsing around Providence exploring the real world where H.P. Lovecraft lived. His works were a huge influence on both authors, and visiting the places where he lived and wrote, and ultimately the place where he is now laid to rest, taps into their collective creativity and reveals much about each of them. Make sure you click on over to read the full details.

(Yes, that’s really the gravestone of H. P. Lovecraft. And yes, Michael and Brendan really visited it, along with many locations from Lovecraft’s life and literature. Read the article for full details !)

We’re always trying to share with our fans. Sometimes that means giving you little treats you aren’t expecting, including insights into our…let’s say “unique” creative minds.

Maps for Portal Under the Stars
One of the iconic adventures of Dungeon Crawl Classics is Portal Under the Stars. The 0-level adventure by Joseph Goodman is included in the back of the DCC core rulebook. It’s as much a part of the DCC firmament as the dice chain.

Now Black Scrolls Games has taken it one step further. The Portal Under The Stars Battlemap is a print product that has all of the encounters for the full adventure laid out in card stock maps. Each of the 29 map pieces is coated so that you can use wet-erase markers on them as needed, and takes the already legendary adventure to an all-new level!

Take your next 0-level funnel to the next level with The Portal Under The Stars Battlemap .
