Transition to Residency: Conversations Across the Medical Education Continuum, October 1-3, 2015, Hotel Monteleone, New Orleans, LA Registration Open for NRMP Transition to Residency Conference!

The NRMP is pleased to announce registration is open for its inaugural stakeholder conference, Transition to Residency: Conversations Across the Medical Education Continuum, to be held October 1-3, 2015 in New Orleans at the Hotel Monteleone. Our goal is to bring together medical school student affairs staff, program directors, and ACGME designated institutional officials - those who have a stake in the Match - to inform and improve how medical students select, transition to, and ultimately flourish in residency training.

Submit a Session Proposal
The breakout session proposal submission process also is open, and provides valuable opportunities for Match stakeholders to discuss and collaborate on key GME topics, identify best practices, and share innovative projects occurring at their schools and institutions. We encourage you to submit session proposals related to the conference themes.

Continued Growth of the Specialties Matching Service!

Although the 2015 Main Residency Match is in full swing, we also want to acknowledge the success and continued growth of the Specialties Matching Service (SMS).  One dozen new fellowships have joined the SMS since the 2013 appointment year.

In the 2014 appointment year alone, these 12 new fellowships encompassed more than 800 applicants vying for over 800 positions in 170-plus programs.  The average program fill rate was 72 percent, with 3 Matches filling more than 90 percent of positions.
