WHMS piano teacher Cathy Schane-Lydon is a descendant of New Zealand Māori. A few weeks ago, she showcased some artifacts to the Lower El students, including a sacred "talking stick" that has been with her family for five generations. She is returning it to New Zealand as part of a special ceremony; afterwards it will be put on display at a museum.
