Word From the Pastor
We are continuing to process the wonderful work done at the Session Retreat in January. At the February meeting of the Session, we voted to replace the Evangelism & Communication ministry team with 2 new ministry teams :

  • Communication & Technology
  • Visitor & New Member Nurture

Going back to the results of College Hill’s 2011 Vision Study , we’ve recognized the importance of keeping updated with the rapidly changing world of social media and modes of communication. We’ve also recognized the need to mentor visitors through the process of deciding to become members of the congregation, and help them connect with others and with the life and ministry of the church.

We need your help!
If you have skills and desire in either of these two crucial areas of ministry, please speak with me, or contact the moderator of the team. Terry Gamel is moderator of Communication & Technology; Sue Haskins is moderator of Visitor & New Member Nurture.

Oh yeah, Holy Week is also this month! Please plan to attend one of the Monastic Soup Suppers on Wednesday evenings, March 7, 14, 21, 5:30 pm . We will also have a Maundy Thursday Service , with Taize music, and a Good Friday Service . Both will start at 6:30 pm .

Throughout this Lenten season, continue to focus on a healthy and meaningful spiritual life, a life that experiences a connection with the Sacred/Divine in our midst and within ourselves.

Blessings,
Rev. Todd

It’s a Fiesta!

( This) Saturday, March 17th is the 10th Anniversary of Pastor Todd beginning his ministry at College Hill Church!

We are commemorating this important event with a party, of course! In order to not interfere with your St. Patrick’s Day celebrations (and since March is busy with Lenten activities), we’re going to have our dinner party on Friday, April 13th, 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.

We will have a catered taco bar (with vegetarian and gluten-free options), fun decorations and a slide show (and maybe a surprise or two!).

All this for the low, l ow price of $10! Tickets will go on sale on March 18 after worship through April 4th. If you have any questions, please email Marilyn Hill.

Adult Church School Class

The Book of Acts
and Christian Beginnings
Sundays at 9:30 am

•      What is the truth about our Christian Beginnings?

•      Is Acts a reliable historical source for the birth and early years of the church?

Join us as we continue to read and discuss the book of Acts, using the Acts Seminar Report by the Westar Fellows (who brought us the Jesus Seminary), along with other sources.

Help us to discern the core values of Act's visionary portrait of Christian community and how they may apply to our own faith community today.

This series of classes is being led by Bert Woodall, with John Gammie.
The Book of Acts was long thought to be a first-century document, and its author Luke - a disciple of Paul - an eyewitness or acquaintance of eyewitnesses. It was considered history, pure and simple .

But Westar's Acts Seminar concluded that Acts is from the second century, a conclusion that directly challenges the view of Acts as history and raises a host of new questions, addressed in this final report of the Acts Seminar.
