Flowering of the Crosses of First Baptist Church

Spring is a perfect reflection of God’s love through the new life we see in trees and flowers around us. We invite you to help us illustrate this new life we have in Christ by bringing flowers to add to our Easter Floral Cross. Help us transform the ugly wooden crosses to beautiful crosses filled with flowers. As you and your family place your flowers on the cross, take a moment to thank God for the Grace you freely receive through His Son, Our Savior, Jesus Christ! Bring flowers from your yard, pick some up at the store, or select from the extras close to the cross. The crosses will be found outside the library close to the Sanctuary and to the left of the Life Center in the Gathering Place. Won’t you join us in worship at the foot of the cross? He is risen! He is risen indeed!
Easter Care

Our church family has traditionally provided Worship Care for Easter Sunday by members who look forward to this opportunity to provide loving care for those who come. Being welcoming to our guests begins in the classes for our youngest! With our 2 worship services this is especially important!

Why not provide care for First Fellowship Worship, go to your Sunday School class and then join your family and others for worship in the Sanctuary? Or, you could worship with your family during First Fellowship, go to Sunday School and then provide care during Sanctuary Worship?  If you are interested in this ministry, please contact Cindy Thompson at 256-428-9411 or Joy Moore, 256-428-9427. Remember, you must have completed our background check in order to provide this care.
The Butterfly
A Christian Symbol of The Resurrection
Early Christians adapted symbols with Christian meaning. The butterfly became a symbol of the resurrection of Christians to eternal life through the redemption of Christ. When the body of Christ was prepared for burial in the tomb, his body was wrapped as the caterpillar is wrapped in the Chrysalis stage. This stage representing death and burial might be the final stage of life but we soon see emerge from the Chrysalis a beautiful butterfly, the same as the Resurrection of Christ as He emerged from the tomb with the beauty of His life revealed to the world!

Our Arts Ministry has worked with Leigh Halverson, Joy Moore, and the children of our church who have made beautiful butterflies to prepare us for our Easter celebration.  Those butterflies will be on display from Palm Sunday through Easter.  To further remind us of the resurrection of our Lord, the Arts Ministry will be handing out butterfly pins to everyone on Easter morning.
Staff News
Dear First Baptist Staff and Church Family,

It has been a pleasure and a joy to serve as the Children’s Missions Coordinator at First Baptist Church. I have taken a part-time position serving with Lifeline Children’s Services. In order to do an excellent job at work, and serving and loving my family, I feel something needs to come off my plate. I am officially resigning as the Children’s Missions Coordinator at FBC. I will of course, do whatever is necessary to fulfill the needs of this year and through any transition that takes place. I will definitely stay very involved and vested in the service of Preschool and Children’s Ministry at our church.

Thank you for loving me so well,
Hope Mackey

As we say thank you for a job well done to Hope, we welcome Jamie Richardson as Interim Children’s Missions Coordinator. Jamie will be working with Hope in the coming weeks to allow a smooth transition.
