Women Deacons? Women Ministers?

My hunch is lots of you get questions from your friends about the women deacons and women ministers at FBC. Do they ask you how a Baptist church could believe women can serve in those roles? Do they even suggest that, if we believed the Bible, we wouldn’t have females in leadership roles?

The fact that FBC is one of only a handful of Baptist churches in our region that provides such leadership opportunities for ladies often leaves us answering questions and even, at time, on the receiving end of criticism.

So why do we have female deacons? Why do we consider women as capable of ministry as men? Are there biblical reasons for that?

On Sunday evening at 5:00 I’m going to be teaching on that topic. I hope to see you in the chapel as we consider the following: “My Neighbor’s Pastor is a Woman! What Do I Do?!”

Your Pastor,

Watch last Sunday's video on Radical Hospitality.

This Sunday we will focus on Relational Discipleship.
