Summer Monday Mornings in Prayer

Would you consider praying together on Monday mornings, 7:30 – 8:00 in the chapel, during  the summer?

There is something to the idea of a family of faith praying together.

In places like South Africa and Eastern Europe, we’ve seen mass prayers by Christ-followers change history. Then there is the story in Exodus of God responding to the Israelite slaves in Egypt because, He said, “I have heard them crying out.” In his writings the apostle Paul encouraged entire churches to pray. There is, indeed, something to this idea of a family of faith praying together.

I am going to be in the chapel on Monday mornings during the summer from 7:30 to 8:00. I invite you to join me. We will begin June 5, and go through July 31. My intent is simply to pray. No program. Just praying. I would invite you to come and join your hearts with your brothers and sisters in prayer.

There are so many initiatives launching in early fall that I sense the need for us to ask for God’s wisdom and power. We need nothing less than an outpouring of God’s Spirit.

It is an honor to pray with you as…

Your Pastor,
Travis

Fresh Expressions
Fresh expressions of church are simple, Jesus-centered communities of faith that seek to engage people who are highly unlikely to enter an existing church. Most often they are started among micro-cultures—segments of society in which people share something in common.

There are several members of our FBC family who are willing to try and start one of these new forms of church. The first three are intended to engage 1) people in recovery from addiction and the families of people in recovery, 2) those who live in Butler Terrace, and 3) members of Huntsville’s art community.

Below are the dates and times for the initial information meetings. If you feel drawn to be part of one of these new forms of church, even if you are not yet ready to make a commitment, we would love to have you come.

“Dinner Church” in Butler Terrace (Joan Whetzel, leader): Thursday, June 8, 6:30
