Flags are flying at half mast at the Brown County Administrative Building this week to remember Brown County Commissioner Rick Eagan, who died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 8.

| Arrest made in series of break-ins |
| |
The Georgetown Police Department recently made an arrest in relation to a series of break-ins which occured on West Grant Ave. Three citizens filed reports about missing items between April 28 and April 30. Two of the victims had reported an individual breaking into their outbuildings and taking various tools. The third victim reported someone had broken into his garage and his home, stealing tools and building supplies.

| Brooks-Lang is named Business Woman of the Year |

The Brown County Chamber of Commerce Spring Recognition Dinner was once again packed with business owners, politicians and individuals to honor several business women and Brown County residents who have made a positive impact on their communities. During the course of the evening, business owner Paul Hall was awarded the Pioneer Award, Connie Farrell was awarded with the Horizon Award, and five finalists for the prestigious Brown County Business Woman of the Year program were honored.

| Crowd gathers for National Day of Prayer |

More than 300 residents from around Brown County, as well as other surrounding communities, gathered in Georgetown on Thursday, May 3 for the 20th National Day of Prayer event to be held in Brown County. National Day of Prayer was officially established in 1952 by President Harry S. Truman.

| Georgetown projects on hold in wake of decision |
| |
The Georgetown Village Council voted to pursue a contract with the Clermont County Building Department to provide building inspection services for the Village of Georgetown, but the process of obtaining new permits has been stalled for the foreseeable future. According to village Administrator Kelly Jones during a recent Georgetown special meeting, the village's recent decision to sever ties with Santoro Engineering, who provided building inspection services for the village, has put several projects on hold.
