  • A report of a possible burglary on Mt. Aire Road in Ripley resulted in the distruption of an illegal meth lab being run out of a resident's home. According to information from the Brown County Sheriff's Office, on May 1, deputies received a call concerning a possible burglary in a home.

  • Brown County Fair Board selects winners
  • Anna Turner's submission has been selected as the Brown County Senior Fair Book cover. Turner, a Sardinia resident, practices massage therapy at the Te-Alah Wellness Center. A longtime artist, Turner has been teaching a colored pencil art class in Hillsboro for the past three years.

  • Mt. Orab Music in the Park set to begin May 19
  • The Mt. Orab Music in the Park concert series will officially return to the village 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 19. Music will begin with a performance from Inside Straight, who will perform along with guest Emily Rhyne. Like last year, there will be breaks for children that include the hula contest, the limbo, and jump rope. Visitors are encouraged to bring at least one canned good item to donate to the local food pantry and to participate in the Split the Pot.

  • Son calls 911 to save mom's life
  • The Brown County Sheriff's Office is planning to honor five year old Lake Waynoka resident Jason Applegate next week. Applegate helped to save the life of his mother, Beth Applegate, by keeping a cool head on Wednesday when he woke up to find that his mother was in a diabetic coma.

  • Tudor breaks state record
  • Western Brown High School's head boys track and field coach. Chad Sexton, proudly reports that his senior throwing star Mack Tudor set the Ohio High School all-time best discus throwing record while competing at Huber Heights Wayne Invitational on April 26. Tudor tossed the discus 206-feet and four inches to lead all divisions in Ohio. Tudor surpassed the longest running Ohio Division I track record that has stood since 1987.
