Letter from the Executive Director

Just in case you missed it, BVP was proud to announce that it was one of 11 grantees nationwide to receive a $2.4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education to support its growth from three to seven schools. You can read more about this exciting news here.

In other important news, the enrollment application to attend BVP is now available on our website at http://blackstonevalleyprep.org/enrollinscribase.  Please help us spread the word by sharing the link with your friends and family from Central Falls, Cumberland, Lincoln and Pawtucket. In January, we will celebrate National School Choice Week with tours at all of our schools and an informational open house. Keep checking the website for new information as it becomes available.

Last but certainly not least, BVP Elementary School 2 is settling into its permanent home at 52 Broad Street! Both scholars and families are thrilled to be in their new space.  You can see some pictures of the scholars' first day below and read more in this great Valley Breeze feature. Please also consider joining us at our official ribbon cutting ceremony on November 20. Details below!

Help BVP recruit talent for our growing team.
As members of the BVP community, we are asking for your help to spread the word about available positions for the 2015-16 school year. You can see all of our postings on our career portal here

Tips for spreading the word:

  • Tweet about our featured jobs! Follow @BVPrep and our Talent Recruitment Associate, Andie (@ABParazo), so you can easily re-tweet our posts.
  • Directly email individuals in your network. We all know how good it feels to receive a personal email rather than a listserv email.
  • Update your Facebook status. Share why you love BVP, or simply share the posts that we post on our Facebook page to your personal timeline.

Middle School

Two BVP Middle School teachers were recognized at September's Educators for Excellence Water Fire: Ms. Marielle Emet, our RI Milken Educator Award winner, and Ms. Aly Chatham, BVP's District Teacher of the Year!

High School

BVP High School celebrated the success of its very first Homecoming game and dance. Spirit week was filled with fun crazy hair and pajama days.  Teachers got in on the action, too (as you can see from the above picture).

Scholars are already looking forward to the Basketball Season and Midday Madness!

BVP Musings
Today I Got Schooled by Third Graders
I had just sat down to put the finishing touches on a grant when my calendar reminder popped up to tell me if I didn't leave right then, I was going to be late for ES1 Town Hall.

From Texas to Rhode Island: My Journey to BVP
Like many first-generation college students, I had little knowledge of how to succeed in college and no one to turn to for help.

An awesome trip to YESPrep!

Everything is BIGGER in Texas. And with more than a dozen schools and plans to keep growing, YESPrep is no exception.
