Isaiah Salinda '15 Leads the Cardinal
Serra graduate Isaiah Salinda '15 led the Stanford golf team to a tie for 16 th in the nation at the recent NCAA Championships, held at the Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Salinda was the top finisher for the Cardinal, sitting at 4-under par through the first two rounds. He finished the third round with one-over par, putting him at 15 th in the tournament, individually.

"Isaiah put up a great round today and was nearly flawless from tee to green," Head Coach Conrad Ray told The Stanford Daily. "It was fun to see him step up in the moment with some big crowds and the vibes you have during the final stroke play round of the NCAA Championships. It was a great way to cap off a strong season."

A junior, Salinda will look forward to bettering his efforts next season as a senior. He was named All-Pac 12 Honorable Mention this spring.

Padres Embrace Service-Immersion
Two groups of Serra students embarked on Service-Immersion trips during the month of June. The Padres traveled to Puerto Rico and East Los Angeles to learn about culture and immerse themselves in a community different from their own at home.

In Puerto Rico, students distributed groceries to community members, visited a manatee conservation center and served at Banco de Alimentos, a Puerto Rican relief agency. Our Padres also toured Old San Juan and explored Puerto Rico via kayak.

In East Los Angeles, students learned how the marginalized populations surrounding Dolores Mission in East Los Angeles have been lifted up by Homeboy Industries, a world-renowned gang rehabilitation program founded by Fr. Greg Boyle. Fr. Boyle visited Serra and its students last November to spread his message of love and compassion. Homeboy Industries has responded to violence with love, faith in action and opportunities for this gang-torn community. Our Padres learned how Fr. Boyle has dedicated his life to providing quality education and life options for the East LA community.

2018 MLB Draft
Two Serra graduates were selected in the MLB Draft, held last month in New Jersey. Cameron Barstad '18, who just graduated from Serra on May 26, was selected in the sixth round of the draft by the Miami Marlins. Barstad is a catcher who hit .422 for the Padres this past season. A recent graduate of Serra, he also has a scholarship offer from the University of Oregon.

James Outman '15 was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the seventh round of the 2018 MLB Draft. Outman is an outfielder who has played for Sacramento State for the past three years. He hit 11 home runs in two consecutive seasons and hit .360 in the recent WAC Tournament.
