Dear Serra Alumni,

Thank you to our alumni who came to campus last month for our Homecoming and Hall of Fame gatherings. In total, approximately 300 alumni attended. 

We are excited to hold our Fall Alumni Games this month and host Fund a Dream on February 25. Fund a Dream 2017 will celebrate our alumni in the arts and entertainment. Our keynote speaker will be world-renowned photographer Michael Collopy '76. We will provide you with more information in the next couple of weeks. I hope to see you on campus soon!

2016 Fall Alumni Games
Serra's fall alumni games will be held Thanksgiving week. Alumni basketball will tip off at 7 p.m. on  November 23,  with the annual wrestling poker party shuffling up at  5:30  p.m. on the same day. Water polo will be held at 10 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning. S occer will kick off at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, November 25.
2016 Homecoming and Hall of Fame
Thank you to our alumni and friends who joined us for Homecoming and our Hall of Fame ceremony last month. We had a great turnout for both events, with a live stream of the football game in the gym during Homecoming.

Fund a Dream 2017
Fund a Dream 2017 will be held on Saturday, February 25. We are thrilled to welcome this year's keynote speaker, Michael Collopy '76.   

One of Michael's photographs was chosen as the basis for the Catholic Church's official portrait of Saint Teresa of Calcutta. He is a world- renowned  photographer. The Huffington Post recently called Michael "one of the preeminent portrait photographers of our time." He has photographed Pope John Paul ll, the Dalai Lama, five U.S. presidents, Paul McCartney and Frank Sinatra, among many others
Padres at AT&T Park
Serra seniors Leki Nunn and Clark Chase were at AT&T Park on Tuesday with Coach Patrick Walsh and Athletic Director Dean Ayoob '92. KNBR's Chris Young '79 and Mike Fadelli '88 were there to greet the group and present a grant of $5,000 from KNBR/Wells Fargo's "Step Up to the Plate for Education" program. Brandon Crawford of the San Francisco Giants was also in attendance.
College Commitments
Seniors Arvin Bahia and Thomas McCarthy have committed to participate in athletics at Santa Clara University and the University of San Francisco, respectively. They are both honor students and take Advanced Placement courses at Serra. McCarthy is a All-League catcher for the baseball team and Bahia is a record-setting water polo player. 
Padres in D.C.
Faculty members Rick Boesen and Kevin Carey are leading a group of Padres on Close Up: Washington D.C. this week. The group has toured government offices and buildings, and met with Jackson Cosko '09, a staffer for Senator Boxer. 
National Merit Commended Students
Seven Serra students were recently named National Merit Scholarship Program Commended Students. Spencer Wedel, Matthew Chu, Michael Kmak, Dominic Marques, Kyle Wilson, Chris Sparks and William Petersen were honored.

These Padres were recognized for the exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the qualifying test used for program entry.
