Faith is a Verb... Musings by Pastor Tony
December 2, 2016

I write this from downtown San Antonio, TX, where many of our denominational leaders are gathered to discuss the changing needs of ordained ministry. We are working with the scripture from the prophet Habakkuk, who said, "Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so that a runner may read it. For there is still a vision for the appointed time." In today's language, the prophet might have said, "Put it on a billboard so that the cars speeding past can read it, for there is still good news to read these days."

Celebrate Christmas with a Poinsettia

At Christmas time we are filled with eager anticipation of the birth of the light of God's hope in our hearts. We tell each other this "old, old story," as we begin to see the lights and colors of hope in our own lives.

A beautiful tradition at ACC is the display of lovely red poinsettias which decorate the sanctuary for our Christmas worship together.  As in years past, you are invited to donate one or more poinsettias at our cost ($8.00 each), and to dedicate your beautiful flower(s) to a loved one.  You are also invited to take it home to add sparkle to your own celebration following the worship service on Christmas Eve.  On two Sundays, December 11 and 18, order forms will be found in your bulletins and Sue Day will be in the Social hall to take your orders and donation.  Checks are payable to ACC (Poinsettia).

In the event you cannot be present to take your flower home Christmas Eve, please let us know when you reserve it, as we may be able to arrange delivery after the Christmas Eve worship service.
Kick Off The Season with The Messiah!

Engaging the Scripture
December 4, 2016

As you read this passage, reflect on the fact that, although Christianity is the dominant faith in our country, at the time of Paul, Christianity was a start-up, struggling, break-away group from Judaism that included many faithful Jews and non-Jews who understood that the promised Messiah had arrived. Engage this passage from Paul, not with your Christian eyes, but as if you were a Jew welcoming Gentiles into your faith. What examples does Christ offer you in terms of hospitality? In terms of who is inside and who is outside? How would these actions bring peace among the nations?

See you Sunday!
