Dear Archbishop Carroll Community,

What a joyous time we are preparing for -- the coming of our Lord!  And here at Archbishop Carroll we are celebrating Advent is a very special way through the creativity of Ms. Christine Rizzo’s Theology classes’ project “Acts of Kindness.”  Together they have challenged the Carroll school community to post 5,000 acts of kindness on the candle display outside their classroom wall by December 23rd.  We are well on our way toward achieving the goal -- and what a beautiful sense of community this project has created among our students, teachers, staff, and administrators!

Although I’ve been a member of the Carroll community for just a few months, it feels as though I’ve been here forever!  Greeted each morning by Welcoming Jesus, I walk into the building to more warm welcomes as the students smile and laugh wishing each other, teachers, and me a great day!  Saint Teresa’s reminder to all of us that you never know what a smile might mean to someone is certainly true and passionately lived out at Carroll.

It is with my sincerest and most heartfelt appreciation that I thank you  -- the entire Carroll community -- for welcoming me into the community and making it feel like home!

May the blessings of the Lord be with you and your families throughout the Christmas Season!

Merry Christmas!

Parent-Teacher-Student Meetings

On the school calendar there are several P-T-S Meetings indicated throughout the year.  It has been determined that these meetings are no longer as important as schoolwide events as they once used to be.  Instead, we find that parents and guardians are much more comfortable knowing that they have access to their children’s grades all day any day through our online, live gradebooks on GradeConnect.  In addition, many parents and guardians contact teachers directly via email or phone to discuss their concerns.

Therefore, we ask that you please feel free to schedule individual appointments at your convenience any time throughout the year with any of your children’s teachers.  The P-T-S Meetings that appear on the 2016 - 2017 school calendar will not be held for the remainder of the year.

From International Education Opportunities
At this time of year, Global Connections Homestay starts preparing for the arrival of international students who will begin classes at Carroll in the second semester.

Part of this process is readying host families and matching them with an enrolled student. Our number one request from families abroad is to have their child live with a member of the school community. Whether it be a teacher, coach, staff member, or especially a family with children attending the same school, this type of placement makes the family and student feel comfortable and safe.

Host families are paid a monthly stipend to offset costs, and we also provide a $300 gift to any referrals that result in a student placement. This gift is for current host families, or those that cannot host but know a family that can!

For more information or to apply, please email us at [email protected] or call 215-259-4055.

We wish you and your family the best during the holiday season.

With gratitude,

The Global Connections Homestay Team
