Dear Parents & Guardians,

I extend a warm welcome to all who are new to our Archbishop Carroll family. I hope you are already feeling at home! The Office of Campus Ministry coordinates the Catholic faith life at Carroll and the expression of that Faith through our relationship with Jesus Christ, his Church, and the people of God throughout the world. To that end, our CarrollforCe (Carroll for Christ everyday) ministry team engages the members of the Carroll community in living our Faith enthusiastically through liturgies, retreats, Christian service, and prayer. Any student, whether new or returning, is most welcome to join CarrollforCe.

We began our academic year with an uplifting and prayerful Opening Mass of the Holy Spirit last Friday. Our celebrant and homilist for the liturgy was the Most Rev. Michael Fitzgerald, Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia, who spoke of using the gifts and talents we have been given by the Holy Spirit to do something beautiful for God each day. Our new principal, Dr. Schulz, and our student leaders were installed at the conclusion of the Mass, as the entire school community joined in the singing of our alma mater.

This Friday, the Class of 2020 will participate in their annual retreat, which will be focused on the theme to Make This Place Your Home. A retreat offers us the opportunity to step back from everyday life and reflect on how God is asking us to grow in our relationship with Him, others, and self. Through the presentations and activities of their retreat, our freshmen will come to learn more about what it means to be a school named for the first bishop of the United States and appreciate their importance as a part of the family of God and this family we call “Carroll”. Our hope and prayer is that they will see how they can use their gifts and talents to build up God’s kingdom here at Carroll and beyond and that they will find this community to be more than just a school…that they will make it their home.

Please keep the Class of 2020 in prayer on their retreat day and know that you remain in our prayers always. May God bless you and your family as we seek to live this year in the spirit of our namesake, Archbishop John Carroll—priest, patriot, and scholar. May we be a people pro Deo et patria—for God and country—every day!

Sincerely in Christ,

Thomas Phillips
Director of Campus Ministry

Freshman Retreat

This Friday, September 23, the Class of 2020 will participate in their annual retreat (only freshmen report to school that day). The retreat day begins at 7:45 am with homeroom and will conclude at 2:25 pm. Students may either bring or buy their lunch as usual. Dress code for the day is the summer uniform; however, students have the option of replacing their golf shirt with their class T-shirt if they desire. Please do not schedule any appointments or family activities for your child on this day as participation is mandatory.

The Kairos Retreat

Registration for the final two Kairos retreats of the year (January 10-13, 2017 and March 14-17, 2017) remains open online. Help us in our service to others.
Archbishop Carroll will be conducting a clothing drive this week until September 23.

The Archdiocese is recalling last year's Papal Visit and Pope Francis' designation of this year as The Year of Mercy by celebrating this as a Week of Mercy.

Schools throughout the Archdiocese will choose a work of mercy to focus on.  We will focus on the corporal work of mercy to Clothe the Naked.

Donations of used clothing items and shoes will be accepted throughout the week. Collection bins will be placed in the main hallways on both sides of the school building.

Contact Mrs. Honyara for more information [email protected].
