Fixed in yoga, do thy work
What is yoga? How do we navigate the modern world while aspiring to a yogic lifestyle?  Ashtanga Yoga Worldwide founder Greg Nardi is presenting four lectures at The BE on a couple of the foundational texts of Yoga:  The Bhagavad Gita and The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Let's explore the yogic search for meaning by looking at the philosophical context out of which yoga techniques developed. This workshop will help you better understand how your practice can profoundly transform your life.

Special Events Upcoming

Saturday March 28: THE PERFECT CHATURANGA with Jennilee Toner
5-7pm, $30 advance/$35 day of

Updog, Downdog, Chaturanga..... how often do we do perform this sequence in our Vinyasa classes? With correct bone alignment, muscle activation and joint integration, these three poses are an effectively satisfying way to cleanse the palette after challenging standing poses and sequences. But done
with poor alignment, or with too much load on weak or injured muscles and joints, these repetitive flows can lead to injury: both repetitive motion AND traumatic. Let's fix that!

The BE welcomes back Jennilee Toner, this time as a published author of The Perfect Chaturanga. Books will be available for purchase at The BE.

Saturday, April 11: Hip Hop Yoga! with Michele Smith and DJ Menscha
6-8pm, $25

This fun and soulful play-shop is suitable for all levels. Michele Smith will weave together traditional hip-hop dance movements with fun and funky asana. Time and attention will be paid to identifying rhythmic changes, body coordination, and freestyle self expression. Enjoy spicing up your practice with old-school and modern beats by Menscha.

Enhance your natural sense of rhythm and have a great time with fellow yogis!

Wednesday April 29 through Sunday May 3: Budokon Yoga 50-hour Teaching Certification, with Sensei Donato

The BE is excited to welcome back Professor Donato Helbling (aka Sensei Donato), this time for a Budokon Yoga Teacher Training! He is an inspiring and fun teacher, and the Budokon practice is powerful and beautiful. Professor D has been teaching Budokon (both the Yoga and MMA programs) for the past 10 years and is the Director of the Budokon Miami, Latin America and the international MMA program.

The Budokon 50hr yoga curriculum is based on the Budokon® Yoga Primary Series, which is influenced by intelligent alignment principles, the freedom of creative sequencing, and the circular nature of martial arts. The Budokon yoga system can be summarized as the art of seamless transition coupled with the beauty of circular rotation. Within the Hatha yoga practice we also explore the Budokon living arts curriculum. This body of work is focused on areas outside of physical movement such as thoughts, emotions, relationship, environment and nutrition. In this part of the curriculum we look deeply at the experiences that form our beliefs and the beliefs that form our actions and we learn to use the lessons from the Yoga mat on to our daily life to unlock our full potential. There will be plenty of physical practice, mind science, community building, and fun!

This course is five days long, Wednesday through Sunday, 10 hours per day with breaks. You will complete the course, learn to teach the Budokon primary series, and then submit a test (in the form of a video) to Budokon University. If you pass you are certified to teach Budokon yoga, otherwise, you may resubmit your test or retake the course at a reduced rate.

This is a YOGIC WARRIOR TRAINING, and therefore you will be asked to look at your fears and limitations with the intention to overcome them and evolve. If you are ready to take your practice (and your life) to the next level, this training will help you tremendously.

Anyone interested in deepening their Yoga practice is encouraged to participate in this program. However, only graduates from a 200hr TTs qualify for certification. If you are planning on taking a 200hr Yoga TT or are in the process of training you will not be certified until you complete your 200hr TT.

Times: 9:00am-7:00pm - Group dinners are Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday nights (please, plan to attend)
Cost: $650. $100 deposit is due by April 22.
