"Therefore God also highly exalted Jesus
and gave him the name that is above every name,
so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father."

Philippians 2:9-11
To be humble is to be modest or to be unassuming. To be exalted is to be held in very high regard or to be in a position of greater power.

Jesus is both humble and exalted, and the events of Holy Week bring those characteristics into sharp focus. As Jesus' followers, we seek to emulate Jesus' way of being in the world, which includes this call to humility. How can you practice humility this week?
Jesus, as we enter into this Holy Week,
we give thanks that you go before us and that your promises are trustworthy.
Send us into the world this day with the courage, wisdom, and humility
to be your faithful disciples.
Amen.
