Celebrating Thanksgiving at Alameda Center!
On November 21, our Residents enjoyed a special "Spanish Thanksgiving Dinner" with their favorite foods, music - and the company of the devoted staff that cares for them EVERY DAY of the year!
Alameda Welcomes
The Girl Scouts!
This magnificent group of teenagers, accompanied by their Troop Leaders, made the delight of our Residents - and infused our whole site with their distinctive youthful energy and cheer!

We Welcome the Holiday Season at Alameda!

Many of our Residents look forward all year long to sharing with family members the special joy that comes with the Holiday season. And for our subacute Patients, the Holidays are a great opportunity to forget the challenges of rehab and just enjoy together with loved ones.

When we have family members who are aging, indeed the holidays may feel even more important.

Aware of the significance of the Holiday season, and the wellbeing that comes with family time, we continue providing FREE TRANSPORTATION to and from Alameda Center for family members who otherwise would not be able to visit.

Included in this Newsletter, you can also find tips and pointers to make the most of your visits to Alameda throughout the season.

Taking small steps to keep them enjoying their familiar routine while enjoying family visits can help turn the Holiday season into precious memories of time well-spent.

Looking forward to seeing you & enjoying the Holidays together!

Making Holiday Time Special

Here are some tips to help you make the most when visiting your loved-one at Alameda Center this season:

Schedule time  with older family members in amounts of time that work into their schedule best. Would your senior prefer an afternoon visit when they have had time to get ready or one in the morning before they tire out?

Bring with you old photo albums  and mementos. They provide a great opportunity to reminisce, and a fun way for the senior members of the family to get a good mental workout!

Try to continue family traditions  while you are together, both to recreate a holiday routine familiar to senior loved ones and to keep the traditions alive. Are there holiday songs that you can sing together to relive the memories from past holidays? Are there decorations that are special to the family? Bring them over!

Be sure  everyone who's coming to visit is aware of the current mental and physical status. Visits go better when everyone is on the same page!

Be alert  to signs that your senior is ready for a break and needs some time to rest, especially knowing that Alameda Center welcomes you to visit everyday of the year.

The Care Experience at Alameda Center

Highlights of a heartfelt testimonial from Ms. Rosa Diaz, translated from Spanish:

"My brother was at Alameda Center for ten years - and always had the care an attention he needed. Today, my sister in law is at Alameda, and I can honestly say that it is the quality of attention she receives from the staff that keeps her alive."

With Utmost Gratitude,
Rosa Diaz
