Zambia: Joint UN-REDD Programme and FIP mission to support development of a REDD+ Investment Plan
The UN-REDD Programme is supporting the Government of Zambia's coordinated approach to design Zambia's REDD+ Investment Plan in joint partnership with the Forest Investment Programme (FIP). This is perhaps the  first Investment Plan  to be developed jointly by the two programmes. 
Africa's first National REDD+ Academy held in Uganda
Uganda hosted Africa's first National REDD+ Academy from 11-15 July, 2016.  Forty participants took part in the training, including representatives from the Ministry of Water and Environment, Ministry of Justice, National Forestry Authority, civil society, the private sector and academia.
Ethiopia and South Korea sign MOU on forestry and climate change
Ethiopia and Korea have signed a 5-year Memorandum of Understanding which  highlights defined areas of cooperation whereby South Korea commits to supporting Ethiopia in building the country's institutional capacity in the forestry sector.

Bangladesh: IP and CSO representatives appointed to UN-REDD National Programme Executive Board
One indigenous peoples (IP) representative and one civil society organizations (CSO) representative have been appointed to the Executive Board of the UN-REDD Programme National Programme for Bangladesh. The appointments were made after a self-selection process by IP and CSO representatives that took place during two separate workshops held 22 and 23 March 2016 in Dhaka.

El Ministerio de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sustentable  de la Nación llevó adelante el segundo encuentro de la Junta del Proyecto del Programa Nacional ONU-REDD, en el marco de las políticas nacionales de cambio climático y bosques.

Country progress on REDD+ safeguards: closing the gap between readiness and implementation
The past 12 months have seen an intensification of countries' efforts to meet UNFCCC safeguard requirements as they move towards REDD+ implementation, and the UN-REDD Programme has been stepping up its technical assistance to meet this upsurge in demand for support on safeguards.  Learn more.
The Ministry of Environment and Forests of Bangladesh formally established the UN-REDD Bangladesh Programme's Executive Board  on  21 July, 2016 Learn more.
As part of the National Greening Campaign 2016 in Myanmar, a tree planting event was held on 16 July in Kyauktaga township of Bago Division.  
Developed with financial and technical support from the UN-REDD Programme, the new website serves as a source for information, publications and more on REDD+ processes and activities being implemented in Myanmar.  
Submissions for presentations for Sri Lanka's "A Blue-Green Era' Conference and Exhibition will be accepted until 17 August 2016.
A regional knowledge exchange on "REDD+ Financing" was held in Bangkok in May 2016, in collaboration with the FCPF, and with funding support from the REDD+ Partnership.
COUNTRY REDD+ ADVANCES 
Programa ONU-REDD Colombia amplía involucramiento en Región Pacífico y formación de capacidades en salvaguardas
En diversos espacios se continúa consolidando la construcción participativa de enfoques en torno al abordaje de las causas de deforestación en el Pacífico colombiano y la formación de capacidades con actores nacionales sobre salvaguardas sociales y ambientales

Líderes y especialistas indígenas fortalecen sus capacidades comunicativas en Perú 

Participaron líderes, comunicadores y especialistas que brindan apoyo técnico a las organizaciones representativas de los pueblos indígenas.


Este evento, que tuvo lugar el pasado 22 de junio de 2016 como parte de una serie de Webinars regionales organizados por FAO en el marco del Programa ONU-REDD, fue útil para compartir conocimientos y lecciones aprendidas sobre la medición, reporte y verificación de REDD+ en América Latina.  
La RDC, pionnier africain de la modélisation de la REDD+, poursuit son engagement vers une économie verte
A l'heure où la République Démocratique du Congo s'engage pleinement dans la phase de mise en œuvre de la REDD+, grâce notamment aux financements de  l'Initiative pour la Forêt de l'Afrique Centrale/Central African Forest Initiative (CAFI), il est bon de revenir sur l'engagement de ce pays emblématique dans la transition vers une économie verte.
El Plan de Trabajo a Largo Plazo de Monitoreo Forestal de la Estrategia Mesoamericana de Sustentabilidad Ambiental (EMSA), tiene como objetivo fortalecer las capacidades técnicas, alianzas estratégicas y divulgación de conocimiento. Ver más.

En Ecuador la Mesa de Trabajo REDD+ es el espacio de diálogo e  involucramiento para promover la participación plena y efectiva de actores relacionados con la sostenibilidad de los bosques bajo el enfoque nacional REDD+.

En Tegucigalpa, Honduras tuvo lugar los días  28 y 29 de junio del 2016 el primer taller sobre degradación: Elementos para la definición, métodos y herramientas, desarrollado en el marco de la Estrategia Mesoamericana de Sustentabilidad Ambiental con la presencia de siete países de Latinoamérica y el Caribe..
Honduras realiza Primer Diálogo Nacional sobre Paisajes Productivos Sostenibles
El pasado 14 y 15 de junio tuvo lugar en Comayagua, Honduras el Primer Diálogo Nacional del Programa Nacional de Paisajes Productivos Sostenibles, el cual actúa como sombrilla para las acciones REDD+, con el fin de presentar ante diversos actores el enfoque del programa y recolectar insumos valiosos que permitan construir la visión de país frente a esta iniciativa.  Ver más.
