Good Afternoon, Reagan,

We have had a successful first full week.  The children are working hard and have almost completely settled into our routine.  We completed our Dibels reading assessments and are beginning to establish individual reading programs for our students.  I appreciate that some parents have already contacted the teacher, or me, asking about their child's data and progress.  For those that have sought more information, we appreciate it a great deal!  Thanks for staying invested and involved in their academic performance.

Reagan Fall Fundraiser
Our goal of $10,000 for our fall fundraiser will offer us the opportunity to make a big impact with our kids.  We want to offer more productive, engaging, and enjoyable activities for the students to have while playing at recess.  With your help, we can create some amazing and exciting new chances for them.  Our vision is to create two sets of blacktop games, in the front and back of the building, for our children to enjoy.  The proceeds for the fundraiser should sufficiently pay for those expenses.
As of today, only 165 students have participated in our good faith giving campaign.  With nearly 450 families at Reagan, we are hoping for a much greater participation percentage.
Every gift matters.  The amount DOES NOT.  We are asking each family to consider donating $30 but families are free to give whatever amount they comfortably can manage.  Some families have graciously given more.  Even if the remaining 300+ families donate $1-$5 each, it will greatly increase our chances of reaching our $10,000 goal.  Please consider helping.  I have attached some of the games / activities that we will include on our playground. Click here to check it out!

Join me in our efforts to increase physical activity and create memorable opportunities for positive play for the children of Reagan.
A new video message will be shared sometime this weekend.

Volunteers
Thank you for volunteering to help this year at Reagan!  You will be contacted soon by the chairperson for your committee with more information.  Room Parents - please join us on August 11 for the Room Parent meeting directly following the PSG meeting at 6:30 pm in the cafeteria. Beginning tomorrow, there will be a box in the work room with slips to note your volunteer work.  Please enter each time you volunteer at Reagan.  Two winners will be drawn for prizes at each PSG meeting.  The more you volunteer, the better your chances are to win! Please remember that you must have a current Brownsburg Corporation volunteer/background application on file.

Fundraiser
Our Support Our School Fundraiser is still under way.  We're asking parents to donate $30 per FAMILY in lieu of selling cookie dough, wrapping paper, etc this year.  This money will go to support our teachers as well as increasing our playground space and to reduce recess over-crowding.  Send in your donation by August 28 and be entered to win Beats headphones, Toys R Us giftcards, a remote controlled helicopter, and much more!  Support Our School Fundraiser proceeds directly affect your child and their classroom.  Please participate!

Box Tops
Please send in box tops with your child.  Our first contest will begin very soon!  The money that is earned from the box top donations go to support teachers and classrooms directly.
Please continue to bring in the Box Tops and thank you for your continued support! Click here to print out our Bulldog Box Top Saver.

Marsh Fresh Idea Card
For those of you who shop at Marsh and have a Fresh Idea card, if you enroll your card to the Fresh Ideas For Education we get points for Reagan which allows us to order supplies for the school. This year they are asking everyone to re-enroll their cards because they are updating their system. Our school code is 43191 when you go to enroll or re-enroll your card you will need this number.

Reagan Workroom

Teacher Workroom Volunteers are our Heroes!!!
We are in GREAT need of additional volunteers for our workroom.  In recent months, we have had a shortage in help and would really appreciate a little bit of your time to support our students and teachers.  Please consider giving an hour, once a month, to help our school!

Your time is appreciated!

Notes from the Counselor ~ Mrs. Benner
Counselor's Character Corner - August

Character education can have a greater impact on students when they are hearing familiar character traits throughout their K-12 education.   Please watch the Reagan Review for information you can share with your children about the traits we are focusing on each month.

August

Respect: Showing kindness and courtesy towards others

September/October

Responsibility: Being accountable for what you say and do

November/December

Compassion: Being kind to others

January

Integrity: Doing what you are supposed to do even when no one is looking

February

Perseverance means to never give up. Keep working hard.

March/April

Acceptance: Recognizing and showing appreciation for our differences

May

Citizenship:Choosing to act in ways that benefit everyone

The character trait for the month of August is Respect. Students will be involved in classroom lessons to learn effective, respectful ways to deal with conflict with others using a program called "Kelso's Choice". Our goal is to teach students several positive ways to deal with these difficult situations. Students will be taught that if they have a big problem they are to get help from a grown-up right away.

The wheel of choices below is what children are encouraged to use. Please talk with your children about the choices they have to work out conflicts and discuss different situations where they can choose the various options.

Notes from Music ~ Mrs. Edwards
Dear Reagan Elementary Parents and Students,
I will again be sponsoring a choir club this year open to 4th and 5th grade students.  No auditions will be necessary, just a love of singing and performing.  This is intended to be an advanced opportunity for students to learn vocal/choral technique and develop music reading skills. We will work on songs of the season, perform 2-4 times during the school year and learn about team work.

The club will meet  every Thursday morning 7:35-8:30 in the Reagan Music Room.

Our first rehearsal will be on Thursday, August 27th.  We will meet every Thursday excluding school vacation days) from August  27th-May 19.
Parents will drop off students at door #2.  The doors will be set to automatically unlock at 7:35 and lock at 7:50.
Students will be expected to attend all rehearsals and performances unless there is an emergency or he/she is absent from school due to illness.  Students must also exhibit good behavior by following Reagan rules during rehearsals and performances.
