Citywide Fair Wage
I'm proud to be on the Commission that made history! With Mayor Levine's leadership, Miami Beach is now the first city in Florida to pass a citywide "fair wage." This is just one of the many steps we are taking to address affordability on Miami Beach.
NoBe Master Plan
Architect firm Dover Kohl has worked tirelessly with the entire North Beach community to develop a comprehensive economic revitalization strategy. Last week, they released their Master Plan draft, which balances historic preservation and future development. Click on the link below to view the entire document.
Protect our Wetlands
The State of Florida needs to be more proactive about conserving our wetlands. I sponsored a Resolution urging the State to buy lands held by US Sugar using the funds allocated for this purpose from the Land Acquisition Trust Fund. US Sugar's property diverts Lake Okeechobee's natural flow to the Everglades, causing environmental damage. A recent Miami New Times article covers the unfolding situation in depth.
Vigil for Orlando
The City of Miami Beach held a vigil to remember the lives lost in Orlando. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and families of this awful tragedy. Our city will always stand with the LGBT community. I encourage everyone to donate blood for the victims of the attack. To learn about donating , click on the link below.
100 Resilient Cities
Miami Beach just joined The Rockefeller Foundation's 100 Resilient Cities! Miami Beach was selected with the City of Miami and Miami-Dade County from over 325 global applicants. This recognition is proof that we have cemented ourselves as world leaders in the 21st century fight against climate change!
