EXERCISE FOR TEENS - WELLBEING RATHER THAN LOOKS
It's not necessarily washboard abs that may motivate teens today to get physically active, but actually how much better they feel, a Canadian study suggests. Instead of talking about buff bodies and physical attractiveness, the focus group participants (consisting of 7-10 phys-ed students) talked extensively about the benefits that physical activity offers for self-esteem, self confidence, leadership and learning. The adolescents described feeling better about themselves, feeling calmer and being better able to do their homework.
At Harbourfront Chiropractic, we are enthusiastic about seeing this shift in adolescent approach towards exercise. It is about changing their perspective about physical activity in terms of what it will do for how you look and how your body functions, to how your whole being actually functions.

PAWSWAY LAUNCHES A PET-FRIENDLY INITIATIVE
Do you ever wish you could take your pet along with you on your day to day excursions in Toronto? Don't worry - in a move to create and connect a more pet-centric community, PawsWay is linking local Toronto businesses and pet enthusiasts via a program that designates participating establishments as pet-friendly and offers patrons a loyalty discount.
The PawsWay Pet-Friendly Loyalty Program officially launched in mid-September with a team of PawsWay Ambassadors. They visited local communities and encouraged businesses to adopt a pet-friendly atmosphere. This includes allowing leashed dogs and cats on the premise. In the first weeks alone, 70 Toronto businesses signed up!
Participating businesses will place a PawsWay Pet-Friendly Loyalty Program decal on their windows, alerting consumers that they can come in with their pets to shop or receive a service. Consumers, who then show their PawsWay loyalty card, can receive a purchase incentive (to be determined by the participating business owner).
What to expect from the program:
Businesses:
- Join a pet-friendly community and connect with new customers by allowing pets in your establishment
Community residents:
- Discover which local establishments in your community are pet-friendly and receive a loyalty based incentive for visiting these businesses
If you know of a business that is already pet-friendly or that is a pawfect fit for the PawsWay Pet-Friendly Loyalty Program, connect with our team at [email protected].
