In the Summer 2017 Newsletter we had featured progress from Grand Scale Train project. We had hoped to have this project completed by now, but this project has proved itself a challenging undertaking. The hot weather this summer slowed the project by limiting the amount of work that could be accomplished. Recently, heavy rains have slowed the project again. With the weather now cooperating, the museum staff and volunteers have been working very hard to get the Grand Scale Project completed.
So far the staff and volunteers have laid ballast over 80% of the track. Most of the ties have been cut and are ready to be laid on the track. About 40% of the rail has been distributed along the track and is ready for installation. And as pictured the finished track is beginning to take form. We are hoping to have the project completed and ready for visitors by mid October.
