July 2017 Newsletter
The encore movement is poised for growth in the next six months. The Encore Network is expanding and the Encore Prize is surfacing innovative efforts to engage older adults to help kids. We'll tap into the new "Reframing Aging" resources from Frameworks to use research-tested frames to make our collective communications more effective. Join the Network by July 15 to achieve Founding Member status and benefit from this rising tide of activity.

The Encore Network has grown to more than 50 nonprofit, for-profit and individual members, demonstrating their leadership and strengthening their work. A few examples illustrate the breadth of member programs: RSVP New York City is America's first and largest RSVP program with 2,500 volunteers; AARP MN State President Kate Schaefers is co-launching a University of Minnesota encore transition program with Phyllis Moen, a renowned sociologist and award-winning author; Helen Hirsch Spence is co-founder and CEO of Top Sixty Over Sixty, Canada's only support community for encore social entrepreneurs. Our Join page tells you all the reasons to sign up now.

In early August the Encore Prize will announce 15 semifinalists with big ideas to bring older adult talent to help kids at risk. You can get to know programs that could be partners and resources in your work and get the word out for the audience award prize. Details to follow in August.

Our July Reframing Aging webinar provided a guided tour of a rich new resource that will help us create powerful, consistent messages for our many audiences. Join our late July working session and shape that effort.

Warm regards,
Betsy Werley , Encore Network lead
