3 quick-win ideas to improve mobility
In our May newsletter, we highlighted the campaign #endPJParalysis which is sweeping the U.K, Australia, and New Zealand. With nearly 100 million Twitter impressions, hospitals are sharing how they are implementing this "just do it" initiative which promotes getting hospitalized patients dressed in order to improve their mobility and their dignity.

Can Ontario create the next global wave of #endPJparalysis?   EMAIL  or tweet at us @RGPToronto and use #endPJParalysis to share how you are making this a priority in your practice or on your units, and we will share your quick-win ideas with the rest of Ontario. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

#1 "Be prescriptive about mobility"
Make #endPJParalysis "doctor's orders" - see an example in the photo above which was tweeted by a U.K. physician.

#2 "Use a patient motivator"
Motivate patients to move by linking it to their goals, such as this U.K. physician who tells his patients: "Walk to the washroom today and tomorrow - I can stop your injections to prevent blood clots"

#3 "Question the status quo"
If you see a patient in a hospital gown or pajamas during the day, consider making use of this U.K. physician's delightfully simple question which challenges the status quo: "Why are you still in pajamas?"
