More Maintenance Tools for a Cleaner District
South Park BID has invested in new maintenance equipment! We are currently creating a comprehensive schedule and series of maps that will show all constituents when their streets are being serviced by each tool. In order to keep the neighborhood maintained to a new standard, the maintenance crew has new leaf vacuums, sidewalk buffers, and weed abatement tools on the streets today. Additionally, a pressure washing schedule will soon be available, and the regular trash removal will be maintained.

Next month, professionals from the real estate, urban planning, design, and policy fields will embark on an extensive study of the issues of the built environment that South Park is facing, including hotel development, infusion of retail and basic services, and potential designs and locations of open space.
The South Park BID is excited to partner with ULI on this endeavor, which will provide valuable tools for the community as developers, residents, and City departments look at potential next steps for the neighborhood. An initial presentation of their findings will take place on October 25, and a final report will be presented at the Annual Meeting on December 11th. Details on both to come.
South Park Local Hospital Presents Its Newest Renovations
On September 12, the California Hospital Medical Center, located in South Park, celebrated the completion of a $9 million renovation and expansion of their facilities. The J. Thomas McCarthy Center for Emergency Services and Leavy Trauma Center have been under construction for several months, all while staying fully operational as one of the busiest emergency and trauma centers in the county, hosting more than 65,000 visits each year.
Congratulations to the incredible physicians, nurses, staff, and philanthropers who have made and will continue to make CHMC such an asset to the community, both locally and throughout LA. South Park BID was proud to be recognized as a member of the supporting community.

Last year, the same team created The Blumhouse of Horrors at the same location.

|Streetscape Improvement Plans Obtain Final EIR
The Environmental Impact Report has been completed for the My Figueroa streetscape improvement project. Funded by federal Prop 1C funding, this- fast-tracked development must complete construction by the end of 2014 in order to receive full federal funding. This final EIR addresses many concerns that critics of the project have brought forward, including its impact on traffic.
The project will bring LA its first protected bike lanes, as well as remove some street parking and increase transit-only lanes. By diversifying the modes of transit utilized along the Figueroa corridor, DTLA will become better connected for cyclists and pedestrians both within the area and down towards USC and Exposition Park.

Live Church LA
Everyone is Invited, Everyone Belongs
Come to Club Nokia on a Sunday morning, and you won't find a new indie rock artist or a jazz festival - you'll find one of South Park's newest religious institutions! Every Sunday at 10AM, Live Church LA holds services, complete with free parking. The church also teams up with AEG and Club Nokia to host community events like Thanksgiving meals, Christmas events, and Easter Celebrations. When they learned about the needs of our elementary schools, the congregation started an Adopt-a-Classroom program to put together school supply kits and book drives.
Live Church LA is on a mission to be a vibrant and healthy church reflective of its socially and economically diverse surroundings. With musical services and a welcoming environment, they encourage all members of the local community to experience all that they have to offer.
