St. Nicholas' mission is to be an example of Christ's love
for all people.
Our vision is to be the center of nourishment in mind, body, and spirit
for all people in our community.
Office Hours

Monday - Friday 8:30am - 1:30pm

From Fr. Jeff,

What are your gifts? For a moment, be really honest and don't worry about sounding boastful. Are you good at fixing things? Are you good at listening to someone who is struggling? Are you good at baking cakes? Are you good at teaching someone how to do something? Are you good at encouraging others? Make a mental note of those things or even better, write a few of them down. Now, think about someone you know who might need that gift this week - a friend, a child, a parent, a co-worker - and make an effort to use that gift to fill their need. We all have different gifts and we all have different needs. Luckily, we have one another and can use those gifts to fill the needs. This is what it means to be the Body of Christ: every member doing its part in order for the whole body to do what it's called to do. Once you practice using your gift for someone you know, take an extra leap and use it for someone you don't know, and see what happens!

Hurricane Harvey Relief
We've all been watching reports of the devastation brought by Hurricane Harvey.  It's hard to imagine what it must be like to live through such a storm, losing your home, clinging to a rooftop waiting for rescue and seeking food and shelter for your family wherever you can.  The loss of property is great, but the human toll is much greater.  If you feel God's call to reach out to our brothers and sisters in Texas, it's most important to pray for them that they feel God's healing love and strength, and then if you are able, consider making a financial contribution to  Episcopal Relief and Development   They truly need our help!

SNICK starts back on September 6 at 5:30pm!

SNICK is back!!!!! If you are between the ages of 4-12 years old and want to join us on Wednesday nights for worship, dinner, and fun, then St. Nicholas is the place to be.

We are also looking for teen mentors to help with the SNICK program. You must be between 13-18 years old. A teen mentor is a positive  model that works with the youth in the SNICK  program and builds relationships by helping to plan and participating in SNICK activities. If interested, training will be on Wednesday, August 30th at 6pm at St. Nicholas.

If you would like to participate in helping in any way, please contact our NEW SNICK Director, Emily Turner at or 706-987-0878.

Meet Emily!!

Emily Turner is our SNICK director! She was born and raised in Columbus, Georgia and is what you might call a "cradle Episcopalian". She grew up attending St. Tomas and was confirmed at Trinity Episcopal after attending the Happening Retreat at Camp Mikell in Toccoa, Georgia. She graduated from Columbus State University in 2009 with her bachelor's in Early Childhood Education and has been a public school teacher in Muscogee County for nine years. In addition to teaching 2nd graders, she is also a bronze level USA wresting coach. This past February, Emily and her partner, Steven welcomed their beautiful daughter, Aubrey Claire into the world . In her spare time, she enjoys reading, kickboxing, playing disc golf and traveling.

Outreach Ministry Opportunties:

Mondays at 2:00pm
Holy Eucharist at Harris County Jail,
contact Fr. Jeff at 706-761-0115.

We are in NEED of 2-3 more volunteers to go with us to the jail, especially on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th Mondays of the month. If you would like to help, please contact Fr. Jeff.

Another Outreach Ministry Opportunty!

Donate food to fill backpacks. We need nourishing foods such as cheese sticks, applesauce, tuna, granola bars and ravioli. The snacks help ensure that the students - whose families struggle to afford
food - eat well over the weekend.

Help at St. Nicholas on Wednesdays at 1:40pm
packing  backpacks for BackSnacks.
Help with deliveries to school on Thursdays.

Contact Grant Flynn at 706-457-9531 to volunteer.

Stewards of the Month

e are grateful for all who worked long hours in the August heat to maintain the beauty of the Memory Garden and grounds, especially Bill and Terry Caudill, Bobo and Barbara Morgan, Steve Morse and Phebe Robinson. They have been selected as Stewards of the Month for September.

When you see them, please remember to thank them for all their efforts.

Breakfast Sign-Ups!
A new sign-up sheet is posted for those who want to bring breakfast on Sundays.  Anything is welcome, from donuts to fruit to casseroles, so bring what you love to eat.

Have it available right after the 8:30 service until just before the 11am service. The responsibility will be on those who bring the food to clean up and take left-overs, but this can be shared, so don't let that stop you. Just ask someone else if you can't.

The main purpose is camaraderie between the services. A bit of breakfast with coffee or juice provides a pleasant touchstone to our Sunday community.

Look for the sign-up sheet and jump on the list!

please contact Marci Horne for changes

Aside from regular services, St. Nicholas is out and about visiting parish members and community. Father  Jeff and LEV's visit hospital or home-bound parish members, family members, Bright Way Personal Care Home, and Harris County Jail. Other places would love to have visits from us. There is a big need to bring God's love to the community through Eucharist and pastoral care. LEV's are trained to give Eucharist and provide pastoral care.

Children's Lego Sunday School
September 10th at 9:45
We will be starting The New Testament, so the kids will really enjoy this segment!  Come one, come all!  Please also let Rebecca Crowley know if you would like to be in the teaching rotation. As always, thanks for all you do to further the spiritual growth of our youth and our congregation!
Possible 5th & 6th Grade Sunday School Class:
We are prayerfully considering starting a new youth Sunday School class for our 5th and 6th graders.  We really need a couple of people that would be willing to work with this age group.  We already have one volunteer, so this would be a rotating schedule.  Please contact Rebecca Crowley or Father Jeff for more information.  Thanks!

Journey Bags for Foster Children
Harris County DFCS has asked if we might create "journey bags" for kids who are going into foster care.  Many times these children do not have anything but the clothes on their backs. Please bring items like diapers, bottles/sippie cups, underwear, socks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, wipes, pajamas, small toys/stuffed animals for ALL ages and we will collect until  September 10
After church that day we invite you to stay for a few minutes to help pack up the bags.

For more information, contact Daughters of the King President Jennifer Milton or Andy Butzon.

Choir will start rehearsing on Wednesdays on September 13th from 6:30-7:30.

Choir will start vesting and singing during the 11:00am service on September 17th.
Choir warm up will be at 10:20am on Sundays.

Bright Way Services

"We took church today to Brightway Personal Care Home.  My wonderful friend, Bert Tomlin, gave a beautiful homily on letting go and letting God do what he does.  I love Sundays with these seniors.  Some of them don't know why we are there but they seem to know we love them."  ~Linda Sawyer

Contact  Bert if you would like to participate.

GoFundMe Campaign for Zion Church

For our next phase of fundraising for historic
Zion Episcopal Church   in Talbotton, Georgia , we have set up a
GoFundMe  campaign.

There is much to be done to help this amazing bit of Georgia history.

Please share this and encourage people to be generous.

For over 160 years, Zion Episcopal Church has watched over the village of Talbotton, GA. There are not many 160-year-old structures still standing in our country.

If you or your family members will be in a play, concert, sports or school activity please send the information to the church  to be printed in the newsletter.
St Nicholas members can then know what is happening with their church family and perhaps attend some of the functions. Include the event with dates, times and location. This is for children, teens and adults.

And when you do, be sure to subscribe to  Website Updates .

You will find the block on the bottom of the home page.
