St. Nicholas Writes, our resident writing group, welcomes David Johnson to its  

Sunday, April 26th meeting from 9:45-10:45 in the Adult Forum room.

David's own words describe the agenda best: 

"Let each person assess where he or she is in their writing and try to answer where they would like to go with their writing.  Once that is done we will employ exercises to help with the situation.  It will be an exploration and experimentation with their writing."

Stewards of the Month for April

Throughout Lent many of us, including the SNICK participants, enjoyed delicious suppers after the Wednesday Family Service and the Lenten Programs. Those suppers were prepared by Carolyn, Ruby and Tina. Each Wednesday they prepared and served the meals and cleaned the kitchen. The Vestry is so appreciative of the time and talent they gave to St. Nicholas and have named them St. Nicholas April Stewards.

DINNER ON THE FARM - May 9, 2015

OUR OWN CHRIS AND JENNY JACKSON WILL BE HOSTING A  

FARM TO TABLE DINNER ON THEIR FARM - Saturday, May 9th.    

Adults $40 - Children under 12 are $20.

Chris will lead a farm tour, live music, artisans and good food.

Come on out St Nicholas - We can have a good time together.

The Rev Robert B. Dendtler  

The Rev Robert Dendtler (Fr. Bob) will be our Supply Priest while Fr. Jeff is on Sabbatical. 

Fr. Bob and his wife, Charlotte, have been married 54 years. They have three adult children plus grandchildren. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania (1958) and University of Tennessee 1963)  Fr. Bob joined the United States Army. He served until 1980 when he decided to go to seminary--something he had always thought about doing. 

He graduated from Virginia Theological Seminary in 1983 and then Princeton Theological Seminary in Pastoral Care and Counseling, 1990.

From 1983 until 2000 when Fr. Bob retired, he has served churches in New Jersey and Georgia. Upon retirement, he has been a Supply or Interim in Georgia and the Virgin Islands.

Fr. Bob is active in the Cursillo Movement, Education for Ministry Mentor, Disciples of Christ in Community and has mentored four postulants for Deacon in the Diocese of the Virgin Islands--just to name a few of his activities.

He and Charlotte are in excellent health. He exercises and plays golf regularly. The Dendtlers live part-time in Georgia and part-time in the Virgin Islands. Fr Bob and Charlotte are looking forward to serving at St. Nicholas and being engaged with us.They are warm, bright and open people. He will be with us each weekend except the 17th of May when he will be playing in a Golf Tournament in support of Veterans--something he has done for years.On that weekend, the Rev Rebekah Hatch will join us.

Fr. Bob is eager to serve us as Priest, teacher and friend. The Vestry feels very fortunate to have Fr. Bob with us while Fr. Jeff is on Sabbatical. We know the members of St. Nicholas will welcome him in their usual warm way. A full resume is available in the Narthex.

 

Carolyn Cox

Carolyn was born in Barbourville, Kentucky. She graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in education. She met Tony Cox in Cincinnati, Ohio, and they married in 1962.

Over the years, Carolyn has worked in education, banking, and social work, as well as providing administrative support for Tony's business. After living in eight different states, they moved to Columbus in 1982, and Carolyn retired from Muscogee County Department of Family and Children's Services in 2003.

At St. Nicholas, Carolyn is a member of the Altar Guild and Pastoral Care Committee, and volunteers for FOCUS. She is a member of the quilting club and the Harris County Library Book Club. She has two children, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Son, Anthony Cox, lives in Columbus and daughter Erin Renfroe lives in Pensacola, Florida.  

Carolyn enjoys sewing, reading, and spoiling her grandchildren.
