Celtic Service on June 21st

St. Nicholas Episcopal Church will worship on Sunday, June 21 at 8:30am and 11am using a Celtic form of worship.

The early Christians in Ireland, Scotland and Wales developed a unique style of worship.  The June 21st celebration will include several of the ancient prayers used by the ChristianCelts in the early centuries.  Worship exists in the here and now but these ancient texts communicate to us in new and different ways.  These prayers seek to touch us in a deep and personal manner.

Come and experience a new way of connecting with God.  All are welcome.

Chris and Andy met at Boy Scout Camp where Andy's father, a professional Boy Scout Executive was the Camp Director. They married in 1973 in the chapel at the Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta and will celebrate their 42nd anniversary in August.

Andy and Chris moved to the family farm in Harris County in 1975 and raised two sons, Cory and Toby, who graduated from Brookstone School and their father's Alma mater, Georgia Tech. Cory is a pediatrician in Franklin,
Georgia, and is married to April. They have two daughters, Helen and Clara.

Toby works for Nvidea in the Silicon Valley and lives in San Jose, California. Toby wrote a computer language book for Macmillan while still in high school at Brookstone. He recently purchased Ansley Farm and is renovating the Bluebird House where his grandparents, Harriet and Paul Luce lived. They were charter members of St. Nicholas, instrumental in getting St. Nicholas started, and cradle Episcopalians.

Ansley and Shelley are 14-year- old twin girls and will be attending Harris County High School next year. They love animals and vacations at the beach or in the mountains.

Brittany has moved back home with her baby, Armani, who charms the birds from the trees.

Andy has taught in Fulton and Harris counties and recently taught 4 year olds at Brookstone School retiring after 20 years to take care of Ansley and Shelley, and her parents in 2006. She was the first librarian of the Harris County Library and worked as a volunteer for Morningstar Animal Shelter and has fostered many puppies and kittens over the years. She has served on the library board and the board of Morningstar.

Chris and Andy are charter members of St. Nicholas.

Chris has served as Senior Warden on the  vestry at St. Thomas Episcopal and St. Nicholas. He also taught Sunday School at St. Thomas. He has served on the Building Committee and sings in the choir.

Andy has served as Director of VBS, taught children's Sunday School and is a member of the DOK. She has attended Cursillo. Andy started the Prayer Blankets and Prayer Bears ministries and helped establish Caring for Caregivers.

Chris and Andy were foster parents for 14 years and have had approximately 40 children come through their home. They have several former foster children they are still involved with and act as parents, grandparents and mentors for them and their children.

Chris works for the Columbus Housing Authority and has served as Chairman of the Harris County Board of Zoning Adjustments for many years.

They are nature and animal lovers and have raised chickens, pigs, a goat and a horse along with many cats and dogs, fish, birds, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, a flying squirrel and a pet pig to name just a few.

The whole family has been active in Scouting. Andy was a Girl Scout leader and a Cub Scout Den Leader for three different dens for 6 years. Chris worked as a Scout Leader and earned his Wood Badge. Please help Patty Hamilton keep the church directory as up-to-date as possible. If you have not yet filled out a form, please pick one up in the cloister room and return to the church office. Or you can send your info via email to Patty Hamilton at  pgrace456@gmail.com.

  1. Please include:your names and the names of your minor children,
  2. address,
  3. email addresses,
  4. phone numbers (cell and home),
  5. birthdays and anniversaries.

If you need a new picture or a new name tag, indicate that as well.  Feel free to use a favorite picture. Just send it in jpeg form to pgrace456@gmail.com.

Mobile App Installation Instructions

Church members can view the St. Nicholas Church Directory from their iPhone, iPad, Android or Kindle Fire by downloading the free Instant Church Directory Members App.

You may search for "Instant Church Directory" in the Apple App Store, Google Play, or Amazon Appstore, or use this link:

After installation, open the Instant Church Directory icon (it looks like a church).  It will ask for your email address.  If your email address is in our church directory, the program will generate a password for you and email it to you.

This worked great for most, but if you have any problems make sure you first check to see that your email address is in the church directory.

Than

Thank you, St. Nicholas family, for your active involvement in our parish.
