been chosen by the Vestry!

The Nominating Committee will be working with our Consultant, The Very Rev. Allen Pruitt of St. Mark’s, LaGrange. Their first meeting has been scheduled for February 15th at 6:00 pm.

Judy Jenks is serving as Vestry Liaison to the committee.

Stitcher's Corner

Charlotte Winsness has undertaken the job of Historian for St. Nicholas. We have asked her to organize our stitcher chronicles and each stitcher submitted their comments which Charlotte edited and compiled.

This chronicle of the needlepoint kneelers will be included in the St. Nicholas history, along with the individual stitcher's comments.

Stitchers meet again Saturday, February 24, 10am-12pm at St.Nicholas.

Please let Katrina know if you need yarn. If you are not enjoying stitching a kneeler and just want to come learn more about how to needlepoint, come join us!

JOIN US IN ADULT FORUM FOR A JOURNEY WITH MARK

There will not be an Adult Forum class on February 11th due to the Organ Dedication Service at 10:00 am. We will resume at 9:45 am each Sunday thereafter. All are welcome in this class whether you have participated in the past or not. We have extra copies of the JOURNEY WITH MARK should you need one.

Saint Nicholas needs us!

Christ’s face can be seen any time we humble ourselves enough to put the needs of anyone else above our own. Not only does this help other people, it also deepens our own spirituality.

There are many opportunities to engage in mission at St. Nicholas. Please look over the lists that are in several places around the church and sign up. Or check out our website for Opportunities to Serve. From Altar Guild, to Jail Ministry, to setting up for parish events, to praying for others, and everything in between, we can all help in some way.

Ash Wednesday Services February 14th

Quiet prayer service and imposition of ashes.

The Sanctuary will be opened for people to

come in and pray. Mabry Collins will be available for the imposition of ashes.

Ash Wednesday with SNICK

Please join the SNICK kids on Wednesday February 14th as we gather for Ash Wednesday.

The service will be begin at 5:30 pm

and all are welcome to attend.

Marci Horne and the SNICK Teen Mentors will be availabe for the imposition of ashes.

St. Nicholas Writes

Our writing group, is available to help any parishioner with a writing task of any kind in individual or small-group conferences. Our members have varied backgrounds and can offer practical, positive advice on how to improve your work. We also give critiques and feedback on academic pieces. The service is free with donations to the church welcome.

New Recycle Bins!

Our Cub Scout Troop has purchased recycle bins and placed them in the rear of the church near our garbage cans. They welcome everyone at St. Nicholas to use them.

Holy Eucharist at Harris County Jail,

contact Katherine Johnson.

We are in NEED of 2-3 more volunteers to go with us to the jail, especially on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th Mondays of the month. If you would like to help, please contact Katherine Johnson.

Donate food to fill backpacks. We need nourishing foods such as cheese sticks, applesauce, tuna, granola bars and ravioli. The snacks help ensure that the students - whose families struggle to afford food - eat well over the weekend.

If you'd like to help out with BackSnacks contact Grant Flynn at 706-457-9531 to volunteer.

Lay Eucharistic Visitor Training

Another wonderful opportunity to show our love and compassion in the community has presented itself and as usual many hands are needed.

Roosevelt Place in Warm Springs currently has seventeen residents and has asked us to bring communion to there staff and residents the third Sunday of each month.

In addition Oak View Nursing Home in Waverly Hall has also invited us to give communion to their residents. They have around 100 residents and we will give communion to them every fourth Tuesday of the month.

Martha Dimon and Bert Tomlin will be taking the lead on visiting these homes and will welcome anyone to join them each month.

The scope is great so please pray about whether you should be a part of this ministry. If you would like to join us please contact Martha Dimon and schedule the necessary training.

You will be much more blessed than the residents of these homes.
