Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation Welcomes New USFS Chief Tony Tooke
The Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation (CSF) welcomed Tony Tooke as the new Chief of the United States Forest Service (USFS). Tom Tidwell, former Chief of the USFS, announced his retirement on August 18, and Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue announced Tooke's promotion from Regional Forester for the Southern Region of the USFS to Chief of the USFS on August 21. Alabama: Unique Public Land Hunting Model Launched
The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources recently launched an innovative approach to public land hunting in the state by providing new Special Opportunity Areas (SOAs). Kansas: Governor Hosts National Hunting & Fishing Day Proclamation Signing Ceremony
On August 18, Governors Sportsmen's Caucus (GSC) member Governor Sam Brownback hosted a proclamation signing ceremony in honor of National Hunting and Fishing Day. With leaders of Kansas's hunting and angling community looking on, the Governor signed a proclamation recognizing the contributions of the state's hunters and anglers to the Kansas economy and conservation funding.
