CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS
In recent weeks there have been many inquiries about the construction taking place in the neighborhood north of Fairmont High School on streets near Shroyer Road, Far Hills and Dorothy Lane.

Please note that these are not city roadwork projects.

This construction involves gas line work being completed by Vectren and water line work being completed by Montgomery County.   Any questions or concerns about the projects should be communicated directly to Vectren and Montgomery County.

Last year we provided one-on-one assistance to more than 3,000 Kettering residents. No appointment required. Come before April 1st for the fastest service!

Mandatory filing requirements are in effect. All residents of the City of Kettering (age 18 and older) are required to file a city income tax return with the Tax Division on an annual basis by April 15.

Permanently retired or permanently disabled persons with only non-reportable sources of income or loss (such as social security, pensions, interest, and dividends) may file for a permanent exemption from the mandatory filing requirements by submitting the Declaration of Exemption Form and all required attachments. Forms are available on our website or may be obtained by calling our office.

The City of Kettering Income Tax Division accepts credit and debit card payments. Online payments can be made on our website at www.ketteringoh.org  via electronic check, credit card or debit card. A convenience fee will be added for credit and debit card payments.
TIME TO START PLANNING FOR YOUR ANNUAL SPRING YARD CLEAN UP

The City of Kettering Yard Debris Center located at 1840 Woodman Center Drive is now open for the season.

Hours are Monday through Friday: 3 PM - 8 PM and Saturday: 9 AM - 3 PM. Please be prepared to present proof of Kettering residency status when dropping off debris.

Please adhere to the following specifications when dropping material at our yard debris site:
  • Brush, limbs and trimmings should be cut to 6 ft. length and 4 in. diameter. Items exceeding these specifications may be refused.
  • The Yard Debris Center can not accept the following: Grass Clippings, Thatch, Sod, Dirt, Rocks, Concrete or Building and Construction Materials. These items contaminate the composting process and cause equipment failure. However, Montgomery County Solid Waste District may accept some of these materials. Please call (937) 225-4999 for more information.
In addition to the services provided at the Yard Debris Center, Kettering residents may also dispose of yard waste through Waste Management residential service along with your regular household trash.

Simply place your yard debris in your trash toter for collection on your regular service day. Yard waste must fit inside your toter and need not be bagged. Waste Management will not collect separate bags or bundles of yard debris left next to your toters.

For further information on Waste Management's program, you may call 1-866-263-6445.

REGISTER NOW FOR SAFETY VILLAGE

Kettering Safety Villag e is a week-long transportation and life-safety program sponsored by the Dor-Wood Optimist Club. The City of Kettering's Engineering Department Safety Section in collaboration with Kettering City Schools is proud to operate this program designed to teach our youngest citizens how to be safe.

Safety Village instructors are joined by Kettering police, fire and school personnel to
provide age-appropriate classroom instruction on a variety of safety topics to participants. Children get to practice and reinforce what they've learned at our indoor Safety Village, with child-size replicas of streets, intersections and buildings. Children also participate in a variety of additional activities, including a ride on a Kettering school bus and a "Safe Walk" in a neighborhood. Through classroom instruction and fun and exciting hands-on experience, young children will begin to develop safe habits for a lifetime.

Kettering Safety Village is FREE for Kettering children who are registering for Kindergarten in August 2017. Sessions will be held June 12- July 28 at J.E. Prass Elementary School. Register today at

 NEW  CITY WEBSITE  LAUNCHING SOON!

In order to improve our ability to serve you, we are launching brand new City of Kettering and Play Kettering websites.

In the past, our websites primarily served to act as online encyclopedias of information and archives of meetings and events. The new City of Kettering website is so much more. Now highly interactive and responsive, you should consider the new website to be your 24/7 digital customer service center.

The new sites, focused on helping you quickly access services and information, include:
  • a brand new design that organizes information in a more user intuitive format and places the focus on customer service
  • a responsive design that adapts to phones, tablets, laptops or computers and, if the user desires, can function much like an app by simply saving the site to your mobile or tablet device home screen
  • a simple search that makes it easier to find exactly what you need
  • an 'Answers' tool that lets users quickly find responses to more than 200 of the City of Kettering's most frequently asked questions
  • a 'Make a Payment' tab that provides one-click access to make your income tax, municipal court, permits or other city payments
  • a 'Report an Issue' tool that allows users to request city services and report the most common concerns any time of day, every day of the week
  • an entirely customized 'My Services' tab that provides address specific information on topics like City Council District, Leaf Pickup District and Trash Collection day.
  • integration of the 24/7 Digital Customer Service Center with city social media accounts including being able to use the full Service Center to find answers to frequently asked questions and report issues directly from the City of Kettering, Ohio - Government and Play Kettering Facebook pages
We are asking Kettering residents and those who work in Kettering to help make the new websites meet your needs.

Now through March 24, 2017, please visit the BETA sites at https://kettering-oh.proudcity.com/ and https://kettering-oh-parks.proudcity.com/.

You can also find them by using the links on our current www.ketteringoh.org and www.playkettering.org websites.

Use the 'Feedback' button on the bottom of the BETA websites to share your ideas for how we can make the new websites better. We will incorporate your feedback and then finalize the new websites for launch in April 2017.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback that will allow us to serve you better.
