The Sermon Title: The Gift of Love
Rev. Harriet J. Bryan
The Old Testament Lesson: Psalm 126
The Gospel Lesson: Matthew 1: 17-24

Questions to Consider:
  • When was the last time you were deeply aware of receiving grace—unmerited favor?
  • When was the last time you thanked God for the gift of grace/unconditional love?
  • When was the last time you extended grace to someone who did not deserve it?
  • To whom could you extend grace right now?

COMMUNICATIONS
In an effort to improve the efficiency of our church communications, we are making some changes that will take effect beginning next week. Instead of our current weekly News, Notes & Reminders insert, we will be publishing a monthly digital newsletter. There will be a limited number of printed copies available in the Narthex and at the Commerce Street entrance, but our hope is that most people will access it online. You will still receive the weekly email on Fridays, and any pertinent whole-church announcements will be printed on the back of the Sunday worship bulletin.
ROSE WINDOW NOTE CARDS AVAILABLE
The MSUMC Altar Guild is featuring their beautiful Rose Window note cards as a Christmas gift idea for our congregants. Jo Anne Caldwell will be selling the note cards ($10 for 10 cards) in the Narthex after the Sunday services on December 10 & 17. You can purchase the cards during the week in the church office.

Our Wednesday Evening Thrive: Food, Fellowship & Study has concluded for the Fall semester. We hope that you will join us for a wonderful study to kickoff the new year!  The Wesley Challenge: January 10-31, 6:00 pm.

In the Wesley 21-day Challenge small groups or whole churches will spend three weeks working through 21 questions that will engage their physical, spiritual and emotional lives and their relationship with God and others.

CLAIM THE FAITH
Sunday evenings, 5:00 - 6:30pm, beginning January 7, 2018
Claim the Faith is a 12-week study led by Rev. Jared Wilson for adults (and interested high school students) that will examine how United Methodists claim and live their faith as individuals and as a denomination. Participants will gain insight into The United Methodist Church, its beliefs and faith practices. This is a great learning opportunity for adults who did not go through confirmation in The United Methodist Church, who are new to Christianity, or who would like a “refresher course” in what it means to claim the faith that empowers us to support the work of the church with our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service, and our witness.
