Summer Starts and both locations heat up ...
 We were saddened last week to learn of the passing of beloved Ray Bradbury. Not only are we all huge fans of his work, but Ray has been an integral part of our store beginning from day one when he drove down from his home in LA to help us open the first store in Clairemont Square. Since that time, may of us have spent memorable hours in his company both at events and in his home where he graciously agreed to sign books for our customers year after year. We add our remembrances and affection to those that have been expressed by so many others since his passing last week.
On a sunnier note, we are excited to tell you about many of the activities we have planned this week at both locations as we gear up for summer. We also have some new books for you to check out. As you shop for Father's Day, Sunday, June 17, we have an assortment of signed books, including copies of sports writer Frank DeFord's new memoir, Over Time. And as you create your lists for your summer vacation, you can pick up some eBooks at special prices too!

In Store in Redondo Beach
Lara Parker, Vicki Pettersson, and Melissa de la Cruz visit in the next week
 Tonight "Dark Shadows" star and author Lara Parker wlll make a special guest appearance at our Silver Screen Readers Club.
 Then tomorrow (Thursday night) our event for Vicki Pettersson and The Taken has some fantastic extras! Our fun-filled evening includes a contest for the best rockabilly style judged by Vicki and Pin-up photographer Jaymz Eberly of Photographs of Dreams. We've got loads of other surprises- including a live music prelude beginning at 7:00 PM with Seatbelt!
 Attendees at Saturday's Happy Hour Book Club for Blood on the Mink with Conor will have a chance to win a free HardCase Crime t-shirt as well as discuss noir!
Then next Tuesday evening, June 19 plan to join us as we welcome back Melissa de la Cruz with her second Beauchamp family witch novel, The Serpent's Kiss. |

 Gideon Crew, the new Lincoln & Child protagonist introduced in Gideon's Sword, is the topic of tonight's book discussion.
Friday Vicki Petterson introduces her new supernatural mystery series, Celestial Blues,  beginning with The Taken.
Debut suspense author David Freed discusses international intrigue and piloting in Flat Spin on Saturday. David has worked as a journalist, a screenwriter, and with the U.S. intelligence community ... all adding up to a not-to-be-missed evening.
And on to next week ...
 Please join us next Tuesday when we host the Launch Party for David Brin's highly anticipated new novel, Existence. The festivities begin at 7pm.
