The Tom Wood Flyer - April 2017
Updates from our hangar to yours!

Welcome to Tom Wood Aviation. This newsletter is one of the many ways we plan to enhance communication within our aviation community. You will read great stories from many different areas of our business. We appreciate all of your feedback and contributions to our business. Spring is finally here and it’s time to get out and fly. Make sure you have June 3rd on your calendar and plan to attend the Tom Wood Aviation Community Day. We look forward to seeing you here!

Welcome Janet Jordan!

We are pleased to introduce Janet Jordan, who has recently joined our company as the new Office Manager for Tom Wood Aviation.

Janet has more than 25 years in the finance/accounting environments, including 20 years in multiple business experiences.  Most recently, she served as a Controller with Wood County Hospital in Bowling Green, Ohio, she was previously Controllers for Cooper Tire and International Paper in Findlay, Ohio.

Janet and her husband (Dave) relocated to Indiana in May 2016 from Ohio to be closer to their only daughter Kelly and her family of 4 grandchildren (Bennett, Silas, Charlie and Aaron)

Stop by and introduce yourself!

From the Shop

The maintenance shop has busy doing STC installs for a based customer's Cessna 182. This install (pictured) is the Sportsmans Leading Edge Cuff STOL kit. Last month we installed the Airglas 8.50X6 big tire conversion which replaced the lower nose strut fork assembly to support that beefy tire. This aircraft already sports the Petersons forward Canards! These modifications make this airplane a treat to fly!

Our Director of Maintenance Paul Enlow has obtained a repairman’s certificate to perform the 24-month altimeter, transponder, and static system checks. Transponder (VFR) only certifications are $85. The altimeter (IFR) certs are still at a very competitive price of $300.00.

As a reminder, spring is here and if you are running Aeroshell 80W this past winter, now is the time to change to 100W. Feel free to stop by or give us a call… we’re always happy to help!

As the weather improves, it’s time to get those airplanes cleaned up from the long winter.  Our detail specialist Dave Tinney provides interior detailing, exterior detailing, and waxing for your aircraft!  Dave has been detailing for 11 years and prides himself on making your aircraft spotless inside and out.

To aid with cleaning and maintenance, we’re nearing the completion of painting our entire hangar floor with epoxy white. The bright white flooring improves light reflection making it far easier to see defects and dirt. Plus it just looks great! Stop in to have a look for yourself.
Check out what our pilots have been up to in the month of March!
