VMP On The Road
If it's springtime, it must be Shelbyfest!  Another one is in the books and Shelbyfest 2014 was one for the records.  VMP Tuning boss and calibrator Justin Starkey logged a lot of seat time and data on our mobile Dynojet dyno. GT500s, 03-04 Cobras, 5.0 GTs and more got the VMP Tuning treatment and carried their owners away with more power and big old smiles on their faces. A few of our 13-14 GT500 customers joined the 700 rwhp club and were eager to show their forum buddies their new muscle on the backroads of "Mexico".  VMP Tuning and Superchargers new GEN II TVS got lots of attention as enthusiasts had a chance to look at the upgrades and benefits with our 3D model and an on-car GEN I sitting side by side.  GEN II debuts the second week of June, retailing for just $2999 and includes an as-cast integral "elbow" and the VMP pulley of your choice.  To sweeten the pot for early adopters, VMP has a pre-sale offer on the website.  Power brokers can place a $1,000 refundable deposit and not only will they be among the first to have a GEN II delivered to their door, they'll enjoy a $200 savings!  Just $2799 for a very limited time.  Here's the link to put your name on the list today!

Remember when having a "big mouth" was a bad thing? The bottom two inlets are VMP GEN I, the top left is the 13-14 "Trinity" and top right is...well...you know.  The all new VMP Superchargers GEN II 2.3L TVS!

Here are a few memories from Shelbyfest 2014

VMP PRODUCT SHOWCASE
JLT Oil Separators.  It wasn't that long ago that it was common practice to have an open filter sticking out of the vent on your valve covers.  The idea was to vent the pressure and catch any particulate that wanted to coat your engine bay.  The fact is that on modern powerplants, this old school practice isn't all it's cracked up to be.  Enter the easy, great looking way to keep your engine oil/vapor from contaminating your engine bay and an awesome way to recycle that fossil fluid back into the engine.  Take a peek at a GT500 intercooler someday and you'll see the effect of unchecked, unfiltered oil coating the vanes in the unit itself.  This inhibits flow and is simply bad for your engine.  The JLT oil separator features a great looking design and installation that takes all of 5 seconds.  Plus, it's priced right at just $117.99 for the passenger side of a GT500, it's a bargain that you shouldn't be without.

VMP has them available for GT500, 5.0 and more at VMPTUNING.COM

VMP GARAGE
It puts a smile on our faces when someone calls and asks us for directions on how to put a switch on their VMP Triple Pass, Dual Fan heat exchanger.  They want to be able to turn the fans on and off at will.  Why?  Because two, huge 11" fans sucking fresh air through a thick core at 40mph tend to sound like, mmmm, fans.  When the car is at speed, you can't hear them anyway.  When the car ISN'T at speed is when you need them most.  Just one of those things that are head scratchers for us.  Us? We'd leave them on.

Have you had a chance to play around with a new SCT X4 yet?  We featured it in our last newsletter, but since then WE'VE had a chance to discover quite a bit.  Check it out-

The first time WE tried to use one to put one of our own tunes into our car it said that it wasn't the correct car!  The serial numbers matched but we found out a little secret.  SCT decided to put a "demo" mode on the X4.  The confusing part was that the demo car they used was a GT500 and guess what kind of car we were trying to load the program into!  Yep....it SAID GT500, so we thought it was our tune, but nope. It was the demo.  It appears as though they have now removed that for any unit that gets custom tuned.

Not only does it have a cool color display but you can put it in landscape mode and create a full screen of monitors/gauges. The X3 (and X2) would only read out info when you were in datalogging mode.  The X4 allows you to build your gauges and monitor a LOT more parameters than before.  Plus, you don't have to be datalogging to do it. But, when you want to, just hit "Record" and you're datalogging.  The New SCT X4 is on sale now and you can find it easily right on our home page.

VMP VIP
Our latest VMP VIP is Kevin Hawes.  Kevin's 2012 performance white GT500 pounds out 545 rwhp and 540 lbft of torque on a stock Eaton with a VMP 2.59" pulley, JLT 127mm carbon fiber intake, Dynatech long tube headers and of course a VMP custom dyno tune when we met him last fall in Bowling Green at the NMRA World Finals.  Kevin is a former Massachusetts law enforcement officer and now spends his time trail riding mules and shooting.  He's a "gearhead" from way back with a '70 Nova SS 396 and a '70 Plymouth GTX 440 in his rear view mirror.  His modern muscle car looks and sounds awesome!  Thanks, Kevin, for letting VMP be part of your winning combination!

March's winning VMP VIP is Jack Snodgrass of Clayton, NC.  Jack has scored a $100 store credit at VMPtuning.com!

If you'd like to be a VMP VIP just send us an email with a picture of your ride sporting VMP goodies.  Hey, it can be just a tune (for you stealthy types). Send it to [email protected] and include the stats for you and your car! Remember, each month we pick a winner for that VMP Gift Certificate.
