What Does Appreciative Inquiry Certification Include?
Earning your Appreciative Inquiry Certification with the Center for Appreciative Inquiry includes:
  • Ai Certification Practicum review by a panel of seasoned Appreciative Inquiry practitioners. It is standard practice for the panel to engage you in a conversation about your work once you have submitted your practicum. Typically, they will respond with questions, to deepen their and your mutual understanding of and learning about AI. The practicum review is therefore a dialogical and interactive process;
  • Appreciative Inquiry Certification document that will be emailed to you for your records;
  • Center for Appreciative Inquiry Certification logo that you are welcome to embed on your website or include in your email signature.
  • Listing on our Appreciative Inquiry Directory . Your Ai Directory listing is an editable profile page that includes your photo and professional biography that highlights your specialties, articles, videos and testimonials. Learn more about the benefits of our Ai Directory here.
How Do I Earn an Appreciative Inquiry Certification?
Listed below are two ways to earn and/or maintain your Appreciative Inquiry certification with the Center for Appreciative Inquiry:

1. Center for Appreciative Inquiry Trainings/Workshops*
Individuals who completed a Center for Appreciative Inquiry certification training (AIFT, AICT, AIPT, or TtT) can earn their Appreciative Inquiry Certification by:
  • Completing an Ai training in its entirety (all training hours must be earned);
  • Submitting a practicum and any supporting documents for certification within one year of completing the training.
  • *Please note: Supervised Practicum Mentorship, Ai Certification review, Ai Directory listing costs and use of The Center for Appreciative Inquiry's Certification logo are included in the Center for Appreciative Inquiry's registration training fees.
2. Other Appreciative Inquiry Training Providers
Individuals who completed a workshop/training by another Appreciative Inquiry Provider may earn their Appreciative Inquiry Certification (AIFT, AICT, or AIPT) with the Center for Appreciative Inquiry by providing the following:
  • Certificate, letter, or email on letterhead issued from the provider with the name of the training/workshop, date, and the amount of training hours completed;
  • Letter that provides a detailed description of the curriculum (training syllabus, summary, email, etc.);
  • A written narrative (practicum) and any supporting documents of your work in the field of Appreciative Inquiry. Practicum requirements vary based on the Ai course completed - for each course requires participants to demonstrate a different set of skills and knowledge.   • Certification Application fee of $250.00 USD. This fee includes a(n):
    • Ai Certification Practicum review by a panel of seasoned Appreciative Inquiry practitioners.

What Appreciative Inquiry Certification Courses Are Offered?
There are five certification paths for you to choose from. Please take a moment to review each certification training to determine which program best fits your needs.

APPRECIATIVE INQUIRY FACILITATOR TRAINING (AIFT)
This 4-day training will provide the skills necessary to facilitate appreciative inquiry sessions in all human systems (large or small). This Appreciative Inquiry foundations course teaches the basics of Appreciative Inquiry (e.g. principles, the 5D's, supporting theory and research, etc.) but delves deeper by providing experiential exercises that will teach you how to work with a core team, design an interview guide, field test this interview guide, how to generate energy for the inquiry, and how to sustain energy for change during and after the inquiry.

APPRECIATIVE INQUIRY COACHING TRAINING (AICT)
This 5-day course will comprise a full Appreciative Inquiry into our collective experience of Appreciative Inquiry and Coaching. Together we will explore and experience each of the 5 D's as it relates to one-on-one relationships (between you and your client). The practicum, which participants will submit for certification, will embody "Destiny" as you apply the lessons taught during this course into your coaching/consulting work.
Pre-requisite: AIFT or equivalent Appreciative Inquiry foundations course (with a minimum of 26 classroom hours

APPRECIATIVE INQUIRY PRACTITIONER TRAINING (AIPT)
In this 3-day workshop, participants will experience an advanced community of practice where they can identify their personal strengths as AI facilitators, enhance their contracting skills, and expand their capacity to design and lead AI initiatives that result in accelerated, sustainable change with measurable outcomes. Participants will be encouraged to share their experiences and participate in dialogues drawn from their actual experiences while in the field.
Pre-requisite: AICT or equivalent Appreciative Inquiry course (with a minimum of 32 classroom hours)
