Dear Valwood Family,
The first full week of school is almost over, and what a week it has been! Faculty, students and parents are settling into their routines, fall sports have begun and campus is electric. I love seeing all of the smiling faces when I visit each division. Let's all continue to work together as one school family and make Valwood School's fifty-first year the best one yet!
Please see the important dates, information and links below.
Sincerely,
John L. Davis, Sr.

Student Spotlight
S
ophomore, Clancy Claire Perry, participated in an Envision Experience Business Innovation Camp at Yale University this summer.
Clancy stated: "
Over a course of six days you are planning a business pitch. By the end of the week, you pitch it to business executives in shark tank style. We had to crowd source our business pitch, had CEO’s come in and talk to us about running a business, stayed in dorms, and were in small groups where our advisors talked to us about the behind the scenes of having a business. We learned the different aspects of business including marketing and administration. We also learned about working with other personalities which really opened everyone’s eyes to other ideas and aspects. I truly loved doing this camp, and it helped me really realize that I want to pursue my career in the business world."

Valwood Parents Association Update
The VPA is recycling summer reading books! When students are finished with their summer reading books, please consider donating them back to Valwood. The VPA will sell them at a discount later in the school year to students who need to read them next summer. This will be a win-win for students and Valwood! Collection boxes will be in the hallways of each school.
Mark your calendars! The Valwood Auction will be held on March 9, 2018. Please look for auction sign up sheets at each division's Parent Night. There are many ways to get involved!
Thank you to everyone who has signed up to help with our TLC and Cares Committees. We are off to a great start!

HISTORY BOOKS ARE STILL AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE
Emily Anderson has written about Valwood's first 50 years in an entertaining book celebrating the rich history of our institution. In addition to her research and personal memories of her time at Valwood, Mrs. Anderson has also collected memoirs from former headmasters, students and parents. Colorful accounts of Valwood's infancy along with stories and pictures throughout the years portray how Valwood evolved without losing the Valiant Spirit it retains today. Get your copy in the Spirit Store for $25.
