Join Us for Worship at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday!

Second Sunday After Pentecost
Scripture: Jeremiah 20:7-13
Message: "Taken for Granted"
The Bible and Baseball
Wow!  What a memorable time we had Sunday night listening to Harry and Kim Ogle share stories about the Dodgers from the '40's-'70's.  Then we watched "42", a movie about Jackie Robinson's journey to MLB.  This is one of the creative ways we are engaging the theme of "Race and Ethnicity in the Bible and Our Time" as we Journey Through the Bible.
Friday night, June 16th, over two dozen members of the OPC family will watch the Cincinnati Reds play the Los Angeles Dodgers.  Travelling with us to Great American Ballpark will be special guests of our congregation, Cristhian Gomez and Alexandra Higuita.  Cristhian and Alexandra are young adult representatives from Colombia as part of our Presbytery's partnership with Presbyterian de la Costa Norte de Colombia.  We are thrilled to welcome Cristhian and Alexandra to Oxford and SW Ohio!

A Week of Rest
While Pastor Lawrence takes a week of vacation with family, we eagerly welcome our guest worship leader for this Sunday and next, the Rev. Garth E. Adams.  Rev. Adams  is a newly ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA). He received his Master of Divinity from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Garth was the 2014 recipient of the Santavicca Scholarship from Oxford Presbyterian Church.
Rev. Adams was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio.  He is a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and serves as a member of the Miami Valley Presbytery's Committee on Ministry. He has been active in this Presbytery serving numerous congregations as pulpit supply over the past seven years.
Rev. Garth E. Adams currently serves as a Chaplain for the Kettering Health Network system where he helps prepare the new Chaplains and CPE interns and Residents.  He is married to DeLynne Adams, owner of DeLynne's Family Hair Care. They have three adult daughters, Sequoia, Shannon and Sierra.

THE TUESDAY AFTERNOON CIRCLE  will meet on June 20 at 1:30 p.m. in The Knolls Country Kitchen.  Prue Dana will lead the lesson and Lynn Cronk the Mission Yearbook.  All are welcome.

The Deacon's Children's Food Drive
Many Children do not get school lunches in the summer and need extra food at home.   The Deacons request your donations of food and money to make the June Food Drive a success. Food and Monetary donations may continuously be given throughout the summer.
If you would like to make a monetary donation, please make a check out to the Oxford Presbyterian Church with Children's Food Drive in the note field.  The money will be used to purchase food for the Oxford Choice Food Pantry.
Oxford Choice Food Pantry needs: canned fruit, cereal, spaghetti sauce, canned meals (such as Chef Boyardee or Kroger meals) and peanut butter. Toilet paper, child personal care items like body wash, deodorant, shampoo and hair conditioner.
Kirkmont Campers -
Need Your Help for PYC!
Kirkmont campers will be doing a mosaic art project on a wall of the camp grounds.  They will be using plastic lids and tops to make the artwork (pictured left).  Please help them save as many lids and tops as they can and bring them to camp June 25.  The tops can be lids from water bottles, detergents, cleaning supplies, or coffee containers.  It's estimated over 20,000 caps and lids are needed.  If every camper can bring at least 500, then there will be plenty to make a beautiful piece of art work for Kirkmont campers to enjoy for years to come.
Please help the three youth from OPC attending camp this summer reach their goal.
Summer Reading
Now we have the opportunity to delve a little deeper with our current theme "Race and Ethnicity in the Bible and Our Time" through a great summer read Jackie Robinson, A Spiritual Biography: The Faith of a Boundary-Breaking Hero by Chris Lamb and Michael Long.  Copies of this book are available to borrow through our church office.  Alternately, the book is available through www.thethoughtfulchristian.com and   www.amazon.com
Whether or not you read the book, we all have something to share.  Plan now to join Matt Lykins and Pastor Lawrence for a dialogue about the book and broader themes at the Oxford Coffee Company on July 1st at 8:00 a.m. or the Left Field Tavern on July 6th at 7:00 p.m.

Your Stewardship Matters
Money is like manure: left in one pile, it stinks.
Spread around, it makes things grow.
