Sumac School Year Calendar
From our PFA President, Kristin McNeice Luebke:
Welcome to our 2017-18 Sumac L-STEM school year!
We are beyond excited to welcome our families back and extend a warm Sumac WELCOME to the new families joining us this year.

This school year is already shaping up to be one to remember. With the arrival of our new principal Liberty Logan, and new faculty/staff members, Sumac is preparing for many exciting memories to be shared among our community throughout the year. Whether Sumac is your home school or your school of choice…it is our school and we look forward to building our truly special community with you.

Our PFA (Parent Faculty Association) has been working over the summer to plan a spectacular year through our continued support of the Media Center (library), PE classes, Music programming, and STEAM curriculum. In addition to all of this, we cannot wait to share the first phase of improvements in our Sumac/Mariposa Media Center. Thanks to your support, and through partnership with Mariposa, we have made some big changes!

Not only do we look forward to another year of amazing programming, we are excited to partner with all Sumac families, to create many new fun memories throughout the year. Whether is it with after school programming, Sumac Family Movie Nights Family Weekend , J og-a-thon , or our BRAND NEW Fall event (think PUMPKINS)…our community is poised to share in a year of FUN! Make sure to stop by our annual  Kick Off  event on Tuesday, August 22nd from 4:30 to 6:30 PM.

Catch up with friends, meet new families, and find out how your support benefits our students all year long. We look forward to seeing everyone there to celebrate the new school year!
A Message from Principal Liberty Logan
Principal Logan

We are very eager to welcome everyone to Sumac L-STEM for an exciting school year.

Sumac is a community which welcomes and supports all students and their families from the beginning through the foundation of their educational adventure. We are a school of excellence because of the wonderful support every family offers to empower our programs. We can only enable each child to realize his or her maximum potential through the school home connection we build every day.

Sumac L-STEM diligently works to shape relationships. Please join me in welcoming a group of passionate professionals to the Sumac L-STEM educational team. The adoption of Wonders/Maravillas for both English and Spanish language arts strengthens bridges between languages and our grade level teams. Our STEAM lessons are aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards. This year we formalize work in partnership with students, parents, school sites, and the district as we clarify the vision for K-12 dual language immersion districtwide.

The innovative educators and support staff of Sumac L-STEM is excited to get started and share our outstanding programs.

All the best,

Principal Logan

Support Your Child's Education All Year Long
To ensure our children continue to have access to key programs and resources such as Art-Science, PE, Music, our Library, technology, fun assemblies and more, the Sumac PFA will host three key fundraisers throughout the year:
#SumacGives Direct Donation Campaign, Jog-a-thon, and Pumpkinpalooza.

#SumacGives is YOUR family’s opportunity to directly support our school; the Jog-a-thon is your extended family and friends’ opportunity to support your child’s education; and Pumpkinpalooza, an all-new STEM-based pumpkin festival, is our community’s opportunity to support our school.

We look forward to an exceptional year here at Sumac and are grateful for your continued support and investment in your child's education!
