Inventory Performance Report

The Inventory Performance Report allows us to directly compare the performance of each class to other classes, to the group and to the location using a number or indices and key performance indicators.
  • CASH MARGIN - Cash Margin are the dollars generated beyond cost of receiving. (this is the cash generated from sales to pay your operating expenses).
  • GROSS MARGIN - $ales minus Cost Of Goods Sold (this age old metric, while important, takes a back seat to CASH MARGIN in most retail stores).
  • CMROI Cash Margin Return on Investment is the cash margin created over the last 12 months divided by the average inventory at cost.
  • GMROIGross Margin Return On Investment is an inventory profitability evaluation ratio that analyzes a store's ability to turn inventory into cash above the cost of the inventory. It is calculated by dividing gross margin by average inventory cost over a 12 month period. 
  • TURN - Inventory turn is a measure of the number of times inventory is sold in a year. The equation is annual sales divided by AVERAGE inventory at RETAIL.
  • EFFICIENCY - Inventory efficiency is a representation of how effective on hand stock has been turned into cash over the last 12 months and is similar to sell-through. The formula for Inventory efficiency is annual sales divided by beginning inventory plus receiving at retail.  
This is a GREAT time of year to review your Inventory Performance Report and set your next 12 month Targets.
