Overdrive
Our new eBook Library

OverDrive -- E Library

We are building an electronic collection of fiction, non-fiction, and biographies. The Library system that we have chosen for the electronic collection is OverDrive. We chose OverDrive because this digital library is compatible with every major device on the market. Students are able to download eBooks and audio books to their tablets, iPods, iPhones, and laptops. Additionally, OverDrive is the only digital library provider to offer compatibility with Kindle devices and apps, extending the reach of our collection.  See Mrs. Chandler about downloading a book to your device.

GVRL -- E Reference

We are also continuing online reference through the Gale Virtual Reference Library. This library includes 1,050-volumes of reference materials including the following popular reference sets American Writers, British Writers, Encyclopedia of Genetic Disorders, Chemical Elements, and Chemical Compounds.
The Archives
Our school is nearly 150 years old!

Read about our collection and about Mrs. Susan Howell our school archivist in the latest Webb Magazine.

We have uploaded a number of things to The Webb School Archives page -

Book Fair
March 17 - 21, 2014

Come to the Library just before Spring Break for the Annual Scholastic Book Fair.

We invite you to visit our Scholastic Book Fair and experience a celebration of reading that provides families the opportunity to get involved in a universal mission: encouraging kids to read every day so they can lead better lives.

Our Book Fair theme - Reading Oasis: A Cool Place to Discover Hot Books! - takes students on a journey back to Ancient Egypt to an oasis overflowing with fun, Reading is the most important skill you can teach a child. Of all the skills children learn, it is the one you can influence the most.

Teen Tech Week
Teen Tech Week -
March 9-15, 2014
Teen Tech Week™ is March 9-15, 2014, with a theme of DIY @ your library

This year at The Webb School Library and Archives we will explore the idea of "MakerSpaces" in the Library.

What is a Makerspace? Creativity in the Library

Makerspaces, Participatory Learning, and Libraries

Teen Tech Week is a national initiative sponsored by the Young Adult Library Services Association and is aimed at teens, their parents, educators and other concerned adults. The purpose of the initiative is to ensure that teens gain the digital literacy skills they need-with the help of libraries-in order to be successful in school and prepared to participate in a 21st century workforce.
National Library Week
School Library Month - April 2014
National Library Week National Library Week is April 13-19, 2014.

The 2014 theme is Lives change @ your library.

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support. All types of libraries - school, public, academic and special - participate.
