Casey Corum will be with us this Communion Sunday for an extended time of worship. Our children and youth are in service with us. After Communion, our children go to their department but youth stay in service to hear Josh Harder's message. 
 
Small groups are on a break in August, but will start again in September. If you are thinking about starting a new Small Group, please contact Megan, and make plans to attend our Wednesday night  training class on August 22.

Employment Opportunity 
Folks, we have already lost one paid childcare worker and are very soon losing two more. This means that in order to continue to offer the quality and quantity of childcare that all parents have come to appreciate, we must hire some new folks. Baptism Classes and Baptism

Adult Class: Tuesday, August 7th, 7pm in the Prayer Parlor  
BAPTISMS: Sunday, August 12th, both services

Our church is one of six in the area that supports the HIM Food Pantry both financially and with volunteers. Our time to provide folks to assist clients at the Pantry is the third Thursday of each month. Gather some of your compadres and serve together.
 
 
Coming in August
An I ntegrated Approach to Healing
Saturday, August 18th, 9:30am-4pm in the Cafe 
The goals of this class are to explain the work of the Kingdom of God, to train people to effectively to minister healing to the whole person, and to equip the Ministry Team of the Vineyard Church of Houston. We will provide a Biblical approach to healing the whole person that includes basic definitions, discussion of the various categories of healing, and the presentation of a methodology for healing ministry. Class time will be spent in both instruction and practice. Lunch and childcare are provided with 5-day advance registration. Sign up here .  
 
 
Small Group Leader Training
Wednesday, August 22nd 6pm in the Cafe 
This training is designed to equip you with the basics of Small Group leadership. If you are considering starting a Small Group, are a current leader who has not had the opportunity to be trained, or a seasoned leader who needs a refresher on the basics, this training is for you. 
Please sign up for dinner & childcare. Please register for childcare 5 days in advance.
 
 
Backpack Blessing and Promotion Sunday
Sunday, August 26th in both services
Every year we encourage anyone who is going back to school (whether teachers, administrators, students, or educators of any kind) to let us pray a blessing over you!
After the Backpack Blessing, new kindergarten children will follow our children's pastor, Jill Lively, to the elementary department and new 6th graders will follow our youth pastor, Kelli Barron, to the 3rd floor youth department.  
 
All Parent Gathering
Sunday, September 23, 1pm on the 3rd floor
Please place this on your calendar now! There are changes coming to all our next generation ministries, and we want parents to be aware of the new vision and new opportunities for their kids! We will provide lunch and childcare. More info to come . . .

This Sunday, after communion, we will be reviewing 1st and 2nd Corinthians in preparation for Galatians! 
 
BAPTISM CLASS FOR CHILDREN! 
On Sunday, August 5th, we will be holding a baptism class for children during both services in kid's church. If our child is interested in attending, please contact Jill Lively.

iFly Indoor Skydiving - High School Night Out 
Tuesday, August 7th, 6:39:30pm    
$45 each. Parents drop off youth at the Cafe at 6:30pm. Pick up at 9:30pm

Speedy's Go Karts - for Middle School Youth
Sunday, August 12th, 4-8pm 
Invite your middle school friends to an evening at Speedy's! We'll have fun with laser tag, mini-golf, go-karts, and arcade games. Parents drop off in the Cafe at 4pm and pick up in the Cafe at 8pm. Email Kelli Barron with questions!
 
All Youth Pool Party 
Saturday, August 18th, 5-8pm 
Come join us for some fun in the sun before school starts! We'll grill burgers and hotdogs. Bring sunscreen, towels, swim suits and friends. This even will be at the Edmondson's home. Parents will take youth there and pick up their youth there. 
 
Tuesday Night Youth resumes  
August 28th! 6pm 
This is the teens' weekly event where they experience community, learn about God, and pray for each other. Grades 6-12 enjoy pizza, hanging out, and bilingual worship followed by teaching and ministry time. Contact Kelli Barron for more info.

Lupe Nachtigall will be having knee replacement surgery this week. She is in need of the following medical equipment:

Raised toilet seat, walker, knee wrap, sock grabber, shower chair

Lupe may also need a place to stay beginning August 13th.
