News You Can Use

Earlier this year we announced that Cindy Aufrance planned to speak in our churches for several months, focusing on women's ministry. Due to husband Dave's upcoming surgery, Cindy will have an abbreviated trip to the US when her granddaughter is born and then return to Hong Kong. Consequently, Cindy will not be speaking in our churches this spring or summer.

- There is an open pastoral position at Mansfield First Friends Church in Mansfield, Ohio. Contact Randy Heckert for more information.

- Churches, please send your Easter offering for EFM in as soon as possible. Thank you!

For more information and updates, please visit our website at  www.efcer.org or contact us at 330-493-1660. We will be glad to assist you.

Monthly Communication Tip

How do you keep your group on task?
Compiled by Pastor Josh Walker on behalf of the Communication Board.

Group projects can be a double edged sword; a group can accomplish much but managing a group can be like herding cats. Here are a few tips for keeping a group focused:
  • Clearly explain the task at hand. Before the group starts make sure goals and expectations are clearly understood.
  • Keep the group informed about the timeline and when the task must be accomplished.
  • Break the task into smaller steps assigning out responsibilities and tracking due dates.
  • Give the group room to chat. Everyone needs a little down time.
  • Periodically refocus the group. It is important to stop activity and check progress against the task goals.
  • Keep communication open. Lack of communication leads to lack of results.
  • Help each person understand their value to the project.
  • Task management software can help large projects or groups separated by distance.  The biggest concern with software is usability. The whole group must be able to use the software for it to help. Trello and Asana are excellent free options. Basecamp is extremely easy to use, very intuitive, but has a monthly cost.

Adventure Camp should be for grades 4-6. Please feel free to make the corrections on the brochures your church received. The corrected brochures may be downloaded here or on the website.
