Malone to Host "Youth on the Way" Leadership Academy July 10-15, 2016

The Youth on The Way Leadership Academy will help high school students to deepen their understanding of vocation and calling, to explore ministry careers, and to develop as Christian leaders. The six-day, on-campus summer experience will include leadership training activities, intensive teaching of the story of Scripture, field trips to explore the intersection of faith and work, theological reflection, and worship to encourage deep consideration of God's calling.

In addition, the academy will not end with the on-campus experience. Once students leave, they will work with a leader in their home church to develop a ministry project that will both serve the local community and hone the student's leadership skills. Finally, the youth will return to campus for a weekend the following May to celebrate their experiences and further consider their calling.  More information, including application/registration information, is available on Malone's website:  www.malone.edu/youthontheway .

Churches Partner in Blanket Ministry

In February, several volunteers from  Valleyview Friends Church in Delaware joined volunteers from  Orange Friends Church to assemble 25 fleece blankets for the Bhutanese families who attend  Christian Community Friends Church Columbus . During the work day, some learned to make these type of blankets for the very first time and enjoyed learning from the experts in the group who were great teachers. The volunteers enjoyed a light lunch and had a wonderful time of fellowship together.

God's love was evident as members of the group distributed the blankets to the many families at the Bhutanese Church during their worship service. Pastor Norbu Tamang from Christian Community Friends Church Columbus extends his church's appreciation for the blanket ministry:  "Thank you for your love rendered to our church members by giving the beautiful and valuable blankets. We, the church members, would like to thank you very much for the love."

Join us as we pray for God's ever-warming comfort on their lives through the giving of these blankets. As always, please keep our Bhutanese friends at Christian Community Friends Church Columbus in your prayers. The church has many young families and has great potential in reaching out to other Bhutanese refugees!

Quotes for the Week

" Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet He is humble, riding on a donkey - riding on a donkey's colt. - Zechariah 9:9 (NLT)

" The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, crying out, 'Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!' And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written, 'Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt! - John 12: 12-15 (ESV)
