One Great Hour of Sharing
Accepting donations through May 7
On Sunday, Westminster will join others throughout our denomination in collecting the One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) offering. This offering helps restore hope to those affected by disasters, empower the poor and oppressed, and provide food to the hungry. We will receive this year's OGHS offering in worship on Palm Sunday, April 9, and will gratefully accept your gift to OGHS through May 7. Please make your check payable to Westminster Presbyterian Church and write "OGHS" in the memo line or give online at www.wpc.org (click on "Donate Now"). During this holy season, let us prayerfully consider our commitment to share God's abundant love with neighbors near and far.

Afraid you are going to be overdosed with chocolate on Easter? Why not consider an ECHO gift? You can make a donation to help refugees, support our mission in Guatemala or assist UrbanPromise in our neighborhood. Then you'll received a card you can put in your basket to acknowledge that gift. It will last much longer than jelly beans and may be purchased in Community Hall between services on April 9.

in the Ruth Christie Room
Girl Talk will meet on Thursday, April 13, at 10:00 a.m. in the Ruth Christie Room to talk about The Twelve Tribes of Hattie by Ayana Mathis. This is the book chosen by New Castle County Libraries for its county-wide "read" this year. The author will be speaking at the Chase Center at the Riverfront on Wednesday, April 29. Join us for discussion on the 13th and/or at the Riverfront on the 26th. We welcome newcomers.
The Easter Vigil
Saturday, April 15, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
(worship begins on Westminster's front lawn and travels to Rodney Chapel)
This Holy Week we're trying something new ... Westminster is reclaiming an ancient tradition called the Easter Vigil. Since the early days of the church, Christians have gathered on the eve of Easter to remember God's work throughout time, beginning with creation and culminating in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Join us for a family-friendly worship service as we tell the story of God's love for us, receive our Confirmation Class into membership, and celebrate Communion. This is a traveling service, so please wear comfortable footwear. To learn more about our Holy Week schedule, see the  April Chimes .
No Weekly Word on April 20
Thursday, April 20
The Westminster Weekly Word will not be distributed on Thursday, April 20. It will resume the following Thursday, April 27. Please schedule your announcements accordingly and submit online at www.wpc.org/communications . The deadline is always Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.
The Birds: An Intergenerational Event
Sunday, April 23, 10:10 a.m.
in Community Hall
Experience and appreciate God's amazing winged creatures! Plan now to join us for a visit from Phung Luu and his birds. Phung Luu is owner/operator of Animal Behavior and Conservation Connections. Our goal is to help Westminster members and children realize their intimate and spiritual connection to the natural world by experiencing the wonder of these birds. Author and environmental activist Thomas Berry said: We need the sun, the moon, the stars, the rivers, and the mountains and birds, the fish in the sea, to evoke a world of mystery, to evoke the sacred.
Sign Up Now! Our Next "Young at Heart" Luncheon
Saturday, April 29, 11:30 a.m.
in Community Hall
Young at Heart, Westminster members and friends of "retirement age," is hosting a very special event on Saturday, April 29, starting at 11:30 a.m. in Community Hall. Our "annual" gathering always includes a fun introductory activity, festive decorations, a delicious lunch and warm fellowship. This year, we have an exciting program presented by "Crazy Rhythm, Fancy Feet," a dynamic duo who will entertain us with a variety of dance steps we've all enjoyed - and maybe a few we haven't tried (yet). Contact the church office (302-654-5214) or use the sign-up sheet at the reception desk to make your reservation. The cost is only $10.00. See you there!

Break-In
Someone broke into the car of one of our members while he was at choir rehearsal. His car was parked in our parking lot and the perpetrator broke his car window and stole his laptop computer. Whenever you leave your car, please remember not to leave any valuables in sight. People will break into your car if they spot a purse, computer, cell phone, change, or anything they consider valuable.

Our fears talk big. They say,
"Death will take everything from us,
all at once or bit by bit,
and nobody knows when."
My neighbor, days before he died,
softly said, "Nothing is left undone."
He was not saying his life
was wrapped up pretty and tidy, or
that the world no longer mattered.
Facing death, he was saying
he was at peace and confident,
that he trusted what was to come.
May we do as well.
