Month of Musical Masterworks Begins this Week
Sunday, August 6
This Sunday morning, August 6, marks the beginning of Westminster's Month of Musical Masterworks, featuring outstanding guest instrumental musicians joining organist/pianist Paul Fleckenstein in presenting major instrumental works interspersed throughout the 10 o'clock worship service. To start off the month, we have not actually a "guest," but our own Merideth Hite Estevez, in a delightful work for oboe by Danish composer Robert Henriques. Click here for more details and the complete line-up for the month.

A Defining Moment for Westminster
On Sunday, July 9, Dr. Jones publicly announced the progress of Westminster's Capital Campaign, "Our Faith, Our Foundation, Our Future," and why it is essential to the present and future of our amazing congregation. Our facilities provide space for 30 community ministries. We are raising $2 million for our Property Endowment Fund and additional funds will support our many mission programs. We want everyone to be a part of this great initiative. If you missed Dr. Jones' July 9 sermon explaining the importance of this campaign, please pick up a copy in the sermon rack on the literature table at church or click here to be linked to our website where you can read it online.

Blessing of the Backpacks
Sunday, August 20,
8:15 and 10:00 a.m. worship
August 20th will be a special day in the life of Westminster! Please plan to attend one of our worship services that morning. Our pastors will bless children's backpacks, helping launch the school year with God's abundant blessings and the love and support of our church family. If you are a student, be sure to bring your backpack that day! Everyone else, join us as we launch our children and youth into the upcoming school year. Our goal is to distribute 500 backpacks to students at EastSide Charter, Highlands, UrbanPromise, and Shortlidge elementary schools. There's still plenty of time to make your donation! Thank you so much for your support.
Have You Tutored or Mentored
a Child?
Study after study has shown that the presence of a caring, involved adult can make a huge difference in the life of a child. If you have experienced the gift of serving as a tutor or a mentor to a child, we would love for you to share your stories in informal conversation with others in our congregation during our Ice Cream Social following the "Blessing of the Backpacks" on Sunday, August 20. Please contact us (302-654-5214 or [email protected]) with your name and the school(s) of your student(s). With deepest gratitude for your generous spirit!

The Giver

We weary of our wanting,
wanting, and wanting more:
more food and less weight,
longer years and sharper wits,
more friends and fewer enemies.
For what then shall we pray?
Contentment? Thankful hearts?
Teach us first to love you,
creator of all things,
giver of all things;
to see the giver
behind the gift.
