Save the Date! 'Young at Heart' Luncheon
Saturday, April 29, 11:30 a.m.
in Community Hall
In the midst of winter, our thoughts often turn to anticipation of the warmth of Spring. For those 'Young at Heart', Westminster members and friends of 'retirement age', mark your calendars for our annual Spring luncheon on Saturday, April 29, at 11:30 a.m. in Community Hall. Our program will be presented by 'Crazy Rhythm, Fancy Feet', a dynamic duo who will entertain us with a variety of dance steps we've all enjoyed - and maybe a few we haven't tried (yet). This is a great opportunity to gather in fellowship with one another and to celebrate Spring. More details will follow in early April, so for now - save the date!

News to Note
Christmas Generosity - Thank You From Our Ministry Partners!
Our ministry partners are so grateful for your generous response to our Westminster's 2016 Christmas Offering. The UrbanPromise Academy for city high school students received $9,032.82; Friendship House Empowerment Centers that enable our neighbors to regain independent living and Emmanuel Dining Room that feeds the hungry in our community each received $6,021.88; our Church in the World Committee will use $7,438.06 to extend projects with our international ministry partners; and the Peace Drums Project received $1,487.61 to advance the cause of peaceful collaboration in Israel/Palestine. How blessed we are to share God's gifts with others - thank you!
Souper Bowl of Caring Results
Souper Bowl of Caring empowers youth and unites communities around the time of the 'Big Game' to help those in need. Thanks to your generosity, on February 5th Westminster youth collected $786.70, which was distributed in equal shares to the LCS Food Pantry at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church and Hanover Food Closet. Nationwide, more than $7,000,000(!) in cash and food items was collected by more than 4,300 organizations to help those who are hungry in our local communities. Your generous giving transforms lives!
Habitat for Humanity Needs Volunteers
Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County needs extra volunteers during February and March to keep building affordable housing in Wilmington and Middletown. Winter means fewer volunteers so HFH has issued an appeal for extra help. You can help by calling Ruby Dyer, HFH coordinator, at (302) 652-0365 ext. 111 and volunteering to work any Tuesday through Thursday. Westminster helped build two of the current houses (now being finished) on the church lawn last June.
From Westminster Member Fred Iobst
A Note of Thanks:
Jane and I are deeply grateful to the ministers and members of Westminster for the gifts, cards, letters and emails sending constant encouragement, healing prayers and kindness our way. We are overwhelmed. I am making progress and hope to return to activities and worship soon. Thank you again for boosting my spirits.
